Why Do I Have No New Subscribers?

I'm looking at Google Analytics and AWeber this morning...

Yesterday 7 new, unique visitors came to my site...

Hit the main page...
Hit the squeeze page...
Hit the ThankYou page (presumably getting the download)...
But yet I have no new subscribers, and no one listed as having unsubscribed...

Any ideas?

Maybe they didn't confirm their subscription. Are you using double opt in?

Sorry... not sure of the terminology exactly...

after signing up they are taking to the AWeber page that tells them to "check your email and confirm"

Upon confirming they are taken to my ThankYou page where they can get the download...

      Is that double opt-in?

Yes, that is considered double opt in. If they are only sent to the Thank You page after confirming, then I really don't know why your leads aren't showing up.

Have you tried testing the form yourself? Is your email showing up when you test it?

If your thank you page is "thank-you.php" then I think you been compromised. After hitting your landing page they go to the squeez page but being the crafty lot they are, I am guessing they are typing in http://yourdomain.com/thank-you.php and downloading whatever it is you are giving away.

Try renaming your download page to something obscured and place it in a dif location and see what happens. the tric I use is to put it in a multiple folders with numbers and characters for folder name and the page itself to be something like thk234you98467lt36.php.

If this is not the issue then you might wana check with Aweber to see if there's an issue there.

Maybe search engine bots found your thank your page and it's counting as real users.

Sorry to state the obvious, but that's really weird!

But yea, what Tyrus said sounds like a possibility, though I don't know how GA counts bots.

Thank you pages like download pages should be a random string of characters.html.

As for the search engines - if you list all the indexed pages of a site in Google, you would be amazed at what pages have been indexed, including the download pages.

Pages like that should always be obscure and standalone.

I don't think you have enough data to make a valid decision.

Why not wait until you have 100 clicks then see what happens, and also test the form on a different computer and make sure that everything works the way you think it should.

Also create your own confirm page, the default aweber page is really crap, it just shouts out that you don't really know what you're doing and it certainly stops me from confirming my email (unless I really want to be on your list).

Yep. I agree. But make sure there is no way people can't access your thank you page by blocking search engines spiders and any other links pointing to the page. Then, wait till you get 100 visitors and then assess your situation again.
