Children never cease to amaze me! This Gives New Meaning to Going Green!

Hi Warriors,

My Grand Daughter asked me if I would buy here a water slide.
I asked her how much money she has saved?

She replied "Only $311".

I laughed and told her to ask her Mother and Father if she could spend
some of her money to get a Water Slide. She then told me she didn't have
enough money to get the water slide.

I said what? How much is this water slide any way?

She said "$600"

"I didn't even know they made Water Slides that cost that much so I said
lets go take a look at this thing". We hoped into the truck and drove to
Wal-Mart to take a look.

On the way there she started telling me more about the slide.
I asked her why she wanted such a Big Water Slide and she said, "Well, I
was thinking that I could have friends over to play in it and when we're
not playing with it you could rent it out to other people for Birthday party's
and we could make some money!

I thought that was a darn good ideal so I bought the darn thing...lol

We've now had it since last Friday and her and a few friends played in it
over the week end. Heck I even got on it...lol

This thing is heavy duty. The draw back about it is that you have to
keep a blower that is connected to it running all the time or it will deflate
and the pool at the bottom will empty wasting water.

Any way, Today I received a call from one of my Grand Daughters friends
parents wanting to know if they could rent it for two days while they have
a family get together.

I called my Grand Daughter and asked her if that would be OK and she
said "Yes, that's why we got it". She also asked which days they wanted it
for? I told her this Thursday and Friday.

OK, Here is the deal, $100 a day for two days. Now my cost has been reduced to
only cost me $400. In another week after the word gets out about it I suspect that
we will be in the Green...lol Talk about Going Green!

Here is a picture of the Water Slide from Wal-Mart's site:

Have a Great Day!
Michael
PS, I don't have my camera with me at the moment so I'll add or replace
this picture with a picture of her and my other Grand Daughter playing on
it later this evening.

    Michael,

That is a GREAT story. I love it. On another note could you please explain the blower set up. You know, Electric Blower/Water ???

    Thanks,

      Hi George,

The Blower sets approx 10 feet from it near the back of the side tower.
Water doesn't seem to go in that direction. It is connected to the Slide
via a approx 10 inch round tube made from the same material as the slide.

I used a Ground Fault Interrupt (GFI outlet) to connect the power cord.

      Have a Great Day!

As a side note. Your grand daughter is a pretty sharp cookie, maybe sharper than you think. Down here (florida) I'm noticing a couple places that popped up that provide inflatable stuff like that for parties. Tents, moonwalks, slides..etc. Seems to be a fairly new market and they seem to be seriously busy. Those are pretty popular

          Update!
While I started this thread today my Grand Daughter was planning a party
inviting many of her school friends over to play on the slide.

She said that she only invited the people that she knew that have birthdays during the summer...lol

She also said that when they see how cool it is that she will tell them to
ask their parents if they will rent it for "Their Birthday party".

My wife said I should give her my office and just sit back and relax. Let her make all the money.

      Hi Jamie,
The significance is the fact that she comes up with this kind of Money
Making stuff on a whim pretty often. If more people would stop trying to
make money and just look around themselves they might see that Money is
just waiting for you to harvest it.

She has a keen sense of seeing the whole story and not just a segment that she desires unlike many IMers I know.

I see people on this forum looking(I my self was one also)for ways to make
money fast. She finds ways with out even trying by looking at what is
      around her.

If more people would just open their minds and really look at the big
picture instead of just looking at their needs then they too could pull
pearls from the ocean of wealth.

    Hi RR,

The material that the slide in made from is about 10 mils thick and was
    constructed for professional use.

After I purchased it I checked their site and there was nothing but Great
    Reviews for it.

If it turns a profit then we'll buy a couple more plus I know who the
manufacture is now so acquiring them shouldn't be much of a problem.

Michael, is the grand daughter going for the upsell on the backend and most importantly - is she building her list? Perhaps she should be offering a special on ice cream as well? Or rent out one of those Fairy-Floss machines (as we call them Downunder - here in France they're known as "Barbe à Papa"(father's beard)). I think she should have her own account right here. With the water-slide as the avatar. Lovely story.

      Hi Warriors,

Thanks for all the Kind comments and support.

Just to straighten out a few things. We don't plan on staying with the
equipment as it is being rented.

We may offer(at an additional fee based on mileage)to set up and take
down the slide and maybe add other services later on as we get established.

Our plan is to rent the slide so that they can take it home and use it then
they return it when their time is up.

I have a lawyer drawing up the Equipment Rental Agreement which will
also contains a Liability Release and Express Assumption of Risk.

That will cover us from any misuse or failure of the equipment.
Basically it will be USE AT YOUR OWN RISK and must be signed in order to
      rent the slide.

They will be required to show two proofs of ID and verify the equipment's
location via an address. Also we will hold in our possession a valid credit
card until the equipment is returned and inspected.

        Hi Roger,

Lol... That brings back old memories!

I once fell a sleep on one and drifted out into the middle of the lake
because the nuts that were with me pulled the anchor up.

When I woke up the next morning I had no clue where I was at. They
were kind enough to come and get me after they had eaten breakfast.

Oh, I got married when I was 17 years old and am still married to her(29 years).
1'st child was born when I was 18 and my second was 5 years later just
before I was discharged from the Navy.

Grand daughters are ages 9 and 2.
The 9 year old I understand although the 2 year old thinks and speaks like
        shes 12...lol

Next thing you know they will come out with a college degree in their
        hands at birth.

I wonder if they get CNN or Fox channel while their in the womb...lol

        Have a Great Day!

          Hi Michael,
I once fell a sleep on one and drifted out into the middle of the lake
because the nuts that were with me pulled the anchor up.

When I woke up the next morning I had no clue where I was at. They
were kind enough to come and get me after they had eaten breakfast.
You could have rolled over and drowned in the night! Or one of those things that 'go bump in the night' could have sprung you into the lake!

Yeh, I hope to be a grandpop one day too when my son does the business. Not too soon though.

Your grand daughters sound like absolute gems - nice work, fella!

Ahh, what better way is there for a man and his grand-daughter to spend quality time together, than looking over their sales statistics and working out their next joint venture...

Michael, excellent story. Thanks for sharing it. Just shows people can make money if they really want to.

    Thanks,

    John

    PS. Loved the video.

I hadn't looked at it from that angle.
