BIG WishList Problems! Need Advice from WishList Users!

Hi all,

Several weeks ago I purchased WishList for the membership site I'm creating based onm the recommendation of several Warriors.

Unfortunately, I've had nothing but headaches and it's STILL not working like it should be (over a month after I purchased it).

I bought it specifically because it seems simple and it integrates with PayPal and AWeber. It has integrated with PayPal just fine. However, I CANNOT get it to integrate with AWeber!!!! This is crucial. When people join, they need to be automatically subscribed to the list I've specified in AWeber.

All the WishList people can tell me is to upgrade. Well, I've upgraded to the newest version of WishList. I have WordPress 2.7 and I am NOT upgrading to v.2.8 because it seems buggy. Plus, my version of WP has been customized for me and I don't want all of that messed up.

The WishList people DO respond to my questions, but at this point, they're not being very helpful at all.

So I hired someone through ScriptLance to help me out and fix this problem (something I should not have had to do in the first place). She says she's fixed it and has placed a couple of test orders herself through the PayPal button I created. Sure enough, I see she's subscribed to the list I've specified in AWeber. FINALLY!

But when I try it, NOTHNG HAPPENS! I have tried this over and over again and I always get the same result:

I get the PayPal confirmation, but nothing from AWeber (I'm not subscribed the to AWeber list) and I don't get an e-mail from WishList with the auto-generated username and password.

Why would it work for my ScriptLance programmer and not me???

At her suggestion, I added a completely different e-mail with a different name (it's a GMail account) to my PayPal account and tried again. Same result. I'm NOT subscribed to the list in AWeber!

Anyone have any ideas? It's been over a month since I bought WishList and it's STILL not working for me. At this point, I'm beyond frustrated. I'm angry!

This product is not working as promised and WishList doesn't seem interested in really helping me figure it out. I should not have had to hire a third party to figure it out, either. And all of my plans and progress are completely halted until this is fixed.

Does anyone have any ideas???? I'm at a complete loss and I NEED TO GET THIS WORKING. This should NOT be this hard!

    When you place the orders, are you completely logged out of WP as Admin?

      Great question!

      I highly recommend you have someone else place a test order from a separate PC/Mac (after trying the above suggestion). Basic troubleshooting 101 would have me believe that if it works for your code jockey and not you then it can't be an issue with WishList Member.

        Yes, I'm logged out of WP and WL when I placed my test order.

        That's what I'm thinking. But what drives me CRAZY is that I have NO IDEA what's wonky. Anyway, I'm getting on the phone later tonight with my ScriptLance programmer to see what the issue is.

        I'm glad that she got it to work -- FINALLY! (I think.) I'm just concerned because I can't replicate it on my end. I've considered just going ahead without worrying about it. But once I start building my list and getting customers, if THEY have an issue, I need to be able to address it and fix it for them. If it's not working for ME, then that could be a problem. I'm NOT going to start promoting with a half-baked system in place. That's a recipe for trouble.

        Hopefully, we can get this resolved tonight.

        I'm still miffed that I had to hire a third party to fix what should have been working in the first place! Murphy's Law in action, I guess. I need to remember to expect problems. Everyone talks about taking action, but action creates friction, which creates problems.

        On the other hand, I should probably just be grateful that there's someone out there with the skills to help me fix it!

    If you need help I would definitely recommend submitting a ticket to our help desk at WishListProducts.com - Helpdesk.

    I've been answering tickets throughout the weekend and haven't seen anything from you - it's hard for us to help if you don't tell us.

    I realize you may have sent tickets at an earlier time but if the problem needs trouble shooting then we'll need to go back and forth in order to figure it out.

    If updating your version of WLM didn't help solve the problem then share this with us - otherwise we can't know whether it needs further investigation.

    We can certainly take a closer look for you but we'll need you to send us all your info for WordPress, FTP and Aweber and we'll try and see what's happening.

    Also, screen shots of the info you are entering in PayPal would also be helpful as well so that we can ensure that the info is lining up across the board.

    Hey Everyone,

    We managed to get everything sorted out for Michelle as it was just a couple of settings that were out of place.

    The problem was, Aweber recently updated their interface which has made our Aweber support video slightly outdated - we apologize for this and we will be updating the video very soon.

    With that said, our support docs are ALWAYS up to date and will walk you through screenshot-by-screenshot of every feature and possible setup.

    If you are a customer and you have any challenges, we HIGHLY recommend looking through these as you'll likely find the answer to your question. These are located within the Customer Center on the right hand side.

    In addition, our support team is always available M-F 8am-5pm to answer any issues that you may be experiencing. So if a problem persists, PLEASE tell us so that we can help.

    99% of all issues are simple settings that need to be checked or unchecked. A couple back and forth emails is generally all it takes for us to identify the exact problem.

    We pride ourselves on the quality of the product as well as our support and we genuinely appreciate all the positive feedback and support from within the Warrior Forum.

      Stu is right.

      I almost asked for a refund because I was REALLY aggravated, but WishList had come highly recommended by several Warriors and after seeing it, I really liked the clean, simple interface. So I kept it.

      I'd put through several support tickets, as I mentioned, but the problem was still not resolved. So I hired a programmer from ScriptLance to help me figure it out. As Stu mentioned, there were steps missing from the instructions, which is why it wasn't working for me. I deliberately didn't put through anything over this past weekend because I was waiting for my ScriptLance programmer to complete the fix and provide me with the missing steps (she found and fixed the problem) so that I could provide them to WishList.

      In the interest of clarity, WishList WAS very responsive to my support tickets. I always got a prompt response. But they kept telling me the same thing ("Upgrade WL and WP" when I'd already done so and that wasn't the issue.)

      Beyond that, I'm happy with it. I like the simple, clean interface. I think my situation was just one of those things, a glitch that shouldn't have happened but did. That's life (and business). Lucky me, it happened to me.

      I don't think anyone else should have that problem. I've provided the missing steps to WishList so they can update their instructions accordingly.

      Everything is working fine now and I can FINALLY start my promotional campaigns!

    I just tried this out last night, and it was WAY too much for me. I ended up choosing memberwing instead. I just want to let you know its very simple to use.
