3 Simple steps for Newbies who arent making any money!!

Just wanted to post a quick thread here under Mind Warriors on what you should do to start getting results in Internet Marketing.

Three simple steps:

1) Unsubscribe from 98 percent of the lists you are on.

They are only distracting you from being focused and productive. Email, Email, Email hell...Ahhhh..LOL. Stay on 1 or 2 lists from marketers that actually provide real value and are genuinely trying to help you. The only lists I am currently on is Frank Kern's, Mike Filsaime's and John Reese.

2) Focus on one thing at a time. If you have too many things going on at the same time you wont get anything done.

If your focused on different ideas and courses and are learning many things at once you just going to get overwhelmed and will not get anywhere. Pick one idea and business model and just attack it with laser like focus.

3) Sell Something! Yes, Wake up people the real money is in selling your own product.

its fine to be selling as an affiliate but the REAL money is in creating your own product and selling it. It can be in any niche. It can be a quick EBOOK/REPORT or a small video course. The point is its that all the money is 100 percent yours and you have all the control.

I really hope this help you all who are struggling to get going.

Evan

Focusing is certainly one of my major issues when it comes to taking action. I read from so many sources that it makes my head spin sometimes. I'm always looking for the best way to do something, but then when it comes time to do something I'm mentally fatigued from all the reading and research.

My goal, since getting my computer back, is to limit myself to a small number of relevant sites to engage with. This way I'll be able to prevent information overload and analysis paralysis.

I think engaging the community is going to be what really puts me on the right path. Taking steps - no matter how small, interacting with like-minded people, and being unafraid to make mistakes - no matter how big, will hopefully help gather some forward momentum.

Thanks for the post - it's a helpful reminder of some important basics.

    Hey Evan,
You've put into words exactly what I've been doing lately. Narrowing things down:
    -who I am subscribed to,
-the number of projects I'm working on
So that I can work on my own product.

Thing is, I am a newbie and there's so much to do to get started.

But thanks for the post, it confirms that following my intuition on focusing and cutting out all of the extra diversions was a good move. And I didn't need another marketing expert to tell me that!

    Cheers!

This was absolutely critical for me as well as it is for most companies. I think it is natural for people and companies alike to try and be good at everything. This never works.

If you think about it, the with the massive scale of the internet, you really only need to dominate a sub sub sub niche to do very well for yourself. If you try and dabble everywhere, you will just get eaten by the sharks because you wont even get good at any one thing. Too many distractions and limited resources.

      very excellent post

Great advice. I've been trying to think of an ebook idea that I can promote. It's difficult to think of ideas that people haven't already implemented however, so I've been trying to think of something I'm good at, and adding a spin to it so I can write to that niche.

Very good advice dude. I have to do number one like YESTERDAY!! LOL.

I get flooded everyday with emails about the "new secret way to..." and the such. Sigh. I do delete a lot of them, as to not even be tempted to click on their links. But it will be much better to just unsubscribe from most of those.

Thinking about it, there's only about 2-3 guys I'm subscribed to that actually provide great free information and help. Those are the ones I'll keep.

As to number 2, it is what I'm doing right now. I've stopped trying to look for the "easy to do system that will make me 5 figures/month"

Starting this weekend I'm locking in, not going anywhere and finally TAKING ACTION on a system that I bought a few weeks back which I do believe is the best way for me to start this.

Like lostarts mentioned, we tend to suffer from doing EXHAUSTING research, trying to think of every minute detail, by the time we "think" we're going to start, guess what? We're too friggin' tired without any real work!! lol.

This post of yours was very, um, "rehashed stuff." We see it all the time "Stop reading/watching and take action" but still for some reason, some of us just don't follow this great advice.

Thanks for the motivational post EvanScott

    STOP PROCRASTINATING
Many, and I mean many of Internet Marketers are suffering from this and it completely takes is you out of focus. Concentrate in one project at a time until is completely dominated by you with good results before moving to the next project. And remember turn off your TV, Radio and any distractions for that time you are devoting to you.

Hi Evan & everyone who has contributed -

Thanks for the advice - no.1 is crucial - unsubscribe fm 98% of the lists i'm on - i always get distracted by the 'next big thing' or the 'next shiny object' and end up chasing rainbows and that elusive pot of gold at the end.....

Yeah, the best thing I ever did was pay my subs to WF - I've learnt MORE here than anywhere else on the net. And the next best thing to do is to take the advice here and act upon it, stop procrastinating and just do it! unsubscribe and move on...

    cheers

I think affiliate marketing is the best place to start.Once you know how to sell someone else's product,it is easy to develop and sell your own product.

Well, I would be hesitant to agree with your poor views right off the bat.

For instance, if you've been at this for 4 months and made 130 $ that is over 30 dollars per month. That's not too bad depending on your background.

However, some important questions remain... such as:
How much time are you dedicating to this venture?
How much do you enjoy it?
and perhaps most importantly, what were your expectations?

If you read this forum in particular you will be OVERWHELMED with the amount of people who say they can make big bucks in short time. Well, my honest belief is that most of them are fakes. Not all, but most. It's marketing after all.

So, when you start to get down to it, you need to get a realistic expectation of where you will be at in the next 4 months. If you have NO CLUE then you're almost setting yourself up to be disappointed. Set a goal, work towards it and tweak it from there.

I agree that there is so much info available that more times than not it's distracting. Focusing is the best way to get something done. My most important process is developing a plan of action that makes me focus on the end result. I don't deviate or investigate other suggestions until I have completed my plan.

That's so powerful. I just unsubscribed for 6 lists just now. I am currently on Eben Pagan, Frank Kern's, Jason Moffatt lists... I call these 3 my Marketing Trinity.

I love how Eben really gets down and breaks things apart for me. And at first I was not a really big Kern fan because I'm more acustom to a... well... more profestion preasintation.

Thing is I've always wanted to be a little more of a "free spirite" like Kern and Moffatt. I also like how Kern and Moffatts emails are short and to the point. It just works better for my ADD. But, there was a time when I got 30 or more emails for the gurus every day... each one saying that the other one was full of it and that I needed to buy their stuff. If you get off these lists and stick with one system... thats when youll start making some mony... not before. At least I didn't.

Focusing on one thing at a time is a fantastic advice. It's true that most internet marketers have been keen to learn so much things and be able to apply it into their businesses but NOT ALL those "gurus" will be helpful according to everyone's needs.

There are these things that are considered FIT which means you don't have to subscribe, purchase and follow all the advices you gather around. What's best is to study them, evaluate how it helps and then stick to the BEST ONES. And right, that's when FOCUS will eventually start again!

That's great advice. I opted out of many lists 6 months back when I realized I was spending too much time on them.

Now I decide on which project I want to Focus on for a month or so. Then I google and subscribe to lists related to that project only.

Thank You Evan for those encouraging words and that's exactly what I'm trying to do because my inbox is full, it appears as soon as I prescribe to one mentor they start coming out of the wood works so to speak and it's so frustrating and confusing to me. Actually, to a degree they're telling me to not buy this and that and then they start trying to sell me all this stuff. So you're right. I'm constantly keeping my inbox clear because it is frustrating , it does confuses you and you can't focus. Again thank you.

Create your OWN product. That will be the ticket. Even all the big name gurus agree that selling your own product will lead you to success, or rather closer to success than being only an affiliate of a product

Concentrating on one thing at a time is essential as it allows you to learn alot....this is because if you try to focus on many things it will cause an information OVERLOAD as many of you may have experienced....so i do agree with the 3 steps!!!

Only problem with "focusing on one thing" is "putting all your eggs in one basket". I do agree that you've got to focus, but I find it difficult to do that when I counted on one thing before (a JOB) and that didn't go so well.

So I try to split my focus/attention in 2 to 3 areas at all times. Which makes things a bit harder, admittedly.

I feel what kstark is saying, but I like the way EvanScott thinks... I myself have asked fellow warriors to help me get started, and many ppl said I should get 1 thing and focus on it. I believe that's what total noobs (like myself) should do, since the overwhelming feeling is most likely unavoidable.
I'm this close to getting started with my website, and will stick with that for a while, before I go and try something else.

Thanks for that post evan. Focus is the main key point there. If we try to finish something, we might as well stay on one task before entertaining or working to some other task. And also, people cannot finish or focus on their work if he/she has 2 or more jobs at the same time. He/she must focus on one work first before moving on to the next job that he/she wants to do. One job at a time will make the work finish faster than doing so many jobs at the same time, as a result, you might never finish all the works that you are handling.
