Steps to Goal Setting

hey guys,
Here's how to set and achieve goals. Hope it helps.

• State purpose for goal – visualize and describe the
ideal end product.

• Define the goal in specific, realistic, measurable, and
timely terms.

• Break down long-term goals into manageable short term
steps (very important).

• Create a timeline for each step in the goal.

• Identify potential challenges to meeting the goal, and
identify ways to overcome those challenges (better safe than sorry).

• Identify sources of support for reaching the goal.

• Carry out the goal steps.

• Re-evaluate the goal periodically and adjust as
necessary.

    Hi Max,
Interesting post in that there are many popular paths to Goal achievement and setting.

Have a look at Max Maltz, probably the farther of visualization.

    All the best Rob

Thanks Max - SMART goals is the way to go for sure.... - I am a true believer in goal setting. It equates to learning - you increase the chances of learning something if you use all of your senses (or as many as you can). So, thinking it (visualizing), writing it down, and verbalizing it will greatly increase the likelihood of reaching your goals.
If you haven't watched the video that Michael (thanks Michael - short but powerful) posted - it takes it a step further to show you an effective way to state the goals.
Most of this is not new information but it reinforces what you are doing – or at least reminds you to sit down and do it!

In my opinion Goal Setting is still mediocre creation. Deadlining & banging something into place will always backfire because you cannot enjoy the moment & have to micro-manage your life to make sure everything's going perfect - meh... When I want something it is already done and the universe simply reflects that back to me. Why setting goals when what you want is already done?
