Does anyone else get this feeling?

I've been blogging for about 5 months now. The niche i've picked is something i spent the last 25 years doing. The subject in question was my life up until 3 years ago.

To cut a long story short, i'm now getting about 500 uniques per day and everyone has complimented me on my content. The blog is growing and it seems to have momentum.

I love writting for the blog and it feels great talking about some of my experiences.

Why is it that when i go to bed and relax, I get this sensation that I'm wasting my time. That my content is rubbish and that the blog is rubbish. But the stats don't lie right, I also have approx 310 subscribers.

Any ideas?

You have outgrown the topics, I think you're obviously bored with the niche. When you started the blog, you're basking in the excitement of sharing your experiences as an expert and you were enjoying everyone's compliments (perhaps there is no better resources on that niche around).

I don't think what you are producing now is rubbish. Perhaps you need to write something related to the niche but with injection of totally fresh ideas and approaches, get your visitors participation, organize something, make your latest moves out of the norm even by your own standard. Is there nothing else in the niche you want to experiment? Or have you documented everything there is to be known? You can produce free ebooks, free reports, build a forum, get other experts' contributions, etc.

I think you have 2 choices here, either bring your blog to another level (if it is 15,000 UV per month now, try to aim for 150,000 per month by year end) or flip it for a fortune

Hope my suggestions helps, even a little.

Thanks Yogurt for your kind words.

In terms of information I've only started to sink my teeth into the niche. I could write for years and still couldn't cover everything.

I think i just doubt my own abilities. I've shown my blog to people that I know and didn't tell them it was mine and they were blown away.

That illusory feeling only holds valid weight if you're NOT experiencing the "YES" answer to these three questions:

    #1) Is it Easy?

    #2) Is it Fun ?

    #3) Am I getting Results?

Thanks to Deepak Chopra for those questions. Once I heard him give a talk about this, a big, bright, ever-illuminating light-bulb figuratively appeared above my head.

Truly, this is what we ALL should strive for...regardless of WHAT we're doing.

Oftentimes, however, personal growth writers, life coaches, metaphysical enthusiasts, philosophers, artists, inner-world teachers, etc. get caught up too much in the first two elements ( easy / fun ) or in the learning, growing, developing and not enough in last one ( results ). Not saying this is you, just that it's the RESULTS that feed back into the fun to complete the circle of accomplishment.

If you're gaining VALUE back, from the time, effort, and energy you're expending, and you like how that VALUE appears ( money ?, Atta-boys? ), then all should be well :-)

it culd be because you're sitting inside all day working on the computer. Tr getting some physical activity. It's is especially nice to get some outside before you go to bed! Yes, i get this feeling as well even though I am a success.. Maybe its cuz u know u can do even better, and although people like your work, you feel it can be even better..

remember, without physical activity your brain will start acting weird. Your feelings come form chemical imbalances most likely due to this very thing..

I think in IM it's easy to get focused in to closely on our own little corner of the net...like looking at the pores of your skin with an ultra powerful magnifying glass...you see every little flaw. It's easy to become too self-conscious.

I'm having some success in practicing just putting things out there as best I can, then letting them go. It's helping me not to take myself too seriously!

(And physical exercise definitely helps. One big name IMer also told me that he takes a daily walk by the river to get away from the computer's energy field. I think that helps, too.)

    Cheers,

I think you are just doubting your abilities -- with your success after only 5 months, you should be proud!

It sounds to me like you have found a niche that you are comfortable in, but you have some guilt because you are successful writing about it, you know you have years ahead of you to keep writing, and it's getting the approval of your readers.

Does that sound about right? If so, it's a good thing that you are thinking about this now, because the fear of success could block you from continuing forward.
