Online Marketing Is NOT Cheap

Many of people ask me, is that online marketing is a free marketing? My answer is Yes/NO. Here is the reason.

Actually, other than your fixed IT costs, online marketing can be free. However, do not fall into the trap of believing that online marketing costs nothing. The reason is that where it’s free it requires an investment of time, for example producing high-quality newsletters, writing blog content, building up your email list.

You need to understand that where it’s inexpensive it usually requires you to invest in some other area. For example, online advertising space may be relatively low cost, but it becomes expensive if no one who clicks on your ads and visits your sites buys anything simply because you have built your site for on the cheap.

Therefore, if you want online marketing to be successful for you, you need to be prepared to invest time and money. Remember, it can be cost-effective, but it’s not cheap.

Bests,
Marcus

It can be cheap if depends what kind of online marketing you do, I turned a $12 invesment into over $6000. But it did take TIME and yes, your right time does cost money.

Like any other business you need to invest either your time or money, and sometimes both.

But it's worth it! That's why we're on here!

Yes you do have to invest either your time or money. I prefer to delegate tasks, so I invest money. I see a slightly smaller profit in the end but it also allows me to use my precious time to work on other ventures, which I delegate the tedious tasks to others as well. It is all about growth!

just like any other promotional effort, if we know how it works any effort of advertising will be cheap, otherwise if we don't know how it works and we just buy cheap ad that doesn't work then I think it's gonna be expensive because it's not converting.

cheap and expensive will take place in online and offline promotion, always.
$15 ad that give us $30 is cheaper than any ad that's not converting.

=) I hope it gives value to the thread

    Pray pardon me,

But the OP must come forth and spread wisdom so as to tranquilize the hysteria that has attached itself to my people.

First, it is true that "what one does not know, can do more harm than the knowledge that one does posses"... and so it hath been proven just from the mentionings here today.

If something can be achieved at the bequeathment of exponential wealth, then so too can the same thing be achieved with only the passing of thin air.

In light of this, one has to realize that one's knowledge must be sufficent enough to carry them out from any financial battlefield as the victor... If not, then one only can expect to be burned with the hot flame of a crackhead's pipe as they make the alley-way their home.

Go forth will you, and seek the truth!

    Fare thee well,
    OP

There is nothing free in online marketing.

You don't necessarily need a lot of money to start, but you'll have to spend a lot of time.

Your time is not free. You have to take this into consideration.

Time and money are always necessary in building any business! But I always look long-term, so I know my efforts at the moment will never go to waste.

The struggling with time and money will always be worth it in the end!

Immediate self-gratification will bite you in the ass sooner or later. Invest and plan!

It's definitely cheaper than any traditional business. Consider how much money you need to invest to launch a restaurant... Now consider how much money you need to launch an internet marketing campaign...

It's cheap... but almost never free.

Well yeah this also depends on what type of results you are trying to achieve, if you go for the cheap, like spending little money on pc, then you're gonna get cheap results too.

I completely agree. Let me give you an example of a client meeting i had earlier. Their view was that £500 was a lot of money to spend on a website. Apart form nearly crying to this point i just gave them an example of how much money they will loose if they don't invest!

Conclusion is that online marketing cost a lot of money or 'time investment', which is basically the same thing. Just look at a lawyer for instance.

    True.

    And I'd add:

Online marketing is getting more and more expensive. As time goes by, more and more sites are launched, offers are already suffocatingly abundant.
Competition is extremely tight. I can't compare this to how it was 10 year ago.

At the same time, the costs per click in PPC for advertisers, as well as most other costs of advertising are constantly on the rise because of more intense competition and ad networks are also getting greedier.

Marketing and SEO tools also cost. The professional unique tools cost. No Google Analytics, but AWeber's services, as well as many others do cost a lot of money - it all adds up.

So, I think the primary cause of increasing costs is: increased competition.

    Secondary cause: ad networks' greed!
