This is solid stuff you're stating here... I have my own theories behind the psychological reasons why others might find something useful - like your video - but don't comment or thank... but that will be for another time. Wiping out a bank account to show that you have "no money" is a new one to me. I've never even considered it. What I do, if I'm lacking motivation and I need to get my inspiration up to grind through a particular course, is I'll go through whatever method I'm following, and return to the salespage.

I see the numbers, graphics, and/or videos the marketer is presenting to me, and I start to feel motivated again. Seeing others making money, KNOWING that others are successful with a particular method, helps to drive me forward. For others who lack inspiration, I recommend rewatching/re-reading the sales page to the course you're following.

Thank you for taking the time to make and post your video.

Really liked your message Ken, I have been experiencing a time of lacklustre lowspirits myself, due to illness and just the daily grind. I focus on the big picture and what it is I am working towards again, just re-visiting the objective, getting free of a J/O/B, looking after my family and suchlike, also exercise, just a little physical exercise changes your mood quickly!
    Thank you

I'm absolutely amazed that I've just heard you talk of re-arranging the office for motivation.

I've just spent the past hour doing exactly that for that very same reason and this was the first thread I clicked into since I've sat down!

Daniel, if you'd like to be doubly motivated, I invite you to come over and re-arrange my office.

Thanks for sharing! This is an important topic to share since most of us get into a slump one time or other. Your tip about setting an account balance to zero caught my attention, I may try it in the future.

I do something similar to your 1st suggestion. What's worked for me is to shift my workspace from the usual - moving away from my regular office space to the kitchen or living room. Sometimes, I head out to the nearby cafes with wifi. Since I work from a laptop, it's easy to shift around.

Another thing I do is to clean areas around the house, whether around my work area or not. Perhaps throw old stuff away, cleaning the floor, bathroom etc.

If I feel like I am not really not too productive, I go out for long hikes or plan for short trips away to nearby towns. Might as well enjoy the time and get myself refreshed.

That's a good point I should have mentioned. In addition to (or instead of) changing your office around, you can physically move to the library or a cafe or something.

      Works just as well

Great post! I'm with you, changing the scenery in my office works wonders! Like you, I also set deadlines for myself, read inspirational stories... but my best self-motivation is to go outside! Sometimes it helps to walk or pedal away from something, get it out of my head, and then come back later with a fresh perspective and a desire to move ahead.

I do some of the same things like change work environment (away from the kids at Starbucks ), watch a motivational movie like "Rudy" or my new favorite passion is watching an episode of Shark Tank once in a while.

But the thing I use to help me immediately is to play motivating and upbeat music and then I get up out of my chair and MOVE. Movement, music and getting the blood pumping helps in the immediate time while changing my environment at home or adding something to the office space is great for a long term effect.

    Hi Kenster,

I love the first two tactics you are using... very creative and interesting, I've never thought about trying them before, so I will

The third tactic I'm using quite often, Mixergy is awesome and I also love Ted.com and Seth Godin's books.

    Thanks for the tips!

Hadn't heard of Mixergy, I'll check it out. When I'm in a slump I like to write down my goals and narrow them down to smaller, more actionable steps. Once I get started on them, the slump is over.

Also, I come to the WF Mindset forum
