Communication in 3 Parts

Hello,

As a student of life and am in a continuous effort
to better myself... I find the skill of being able to
communicate with people is extremely, extremely
vital.

I do believe that I learnt about the 3 forms of
communications when my pastor preached about
it one Sunday morning...

1. Textual
2. Intonations
3. Intentional

Textual in today's terms could be in form of email,
phone text messages, letters, just to name a few.
Intonations would be communication with a person
via face-to-face, phone, recorded messages.
Intentional would be the "spirit" behind the
communication and the goal to be achieved in
each communication.

Now, the reason, why I brought this up is because
I've noticed that the main discussion forum has
had its fair share of arguments (which forum
doesn't?) but when we actually meet the person in
real life and there's actual talk, the intonations and
the intentions come across clear as crystal.

On a forum, we are only given the textual way of
communicating.

So our intentions and intonations do not come
across... in fact, whenever you read any statement
on the internet, you are reading it in your voice and
reading it in your intonation.

So, even though the person who wrote it meant no
harm... the person who read it got offended.

I also believe in the way of typing-as-you-talk so
that it comes across as more real... especially
when it comes to sending emails to a list.

Should you judge a person on a forum based on the
way he/she responds? I've known some people who
are VERY politically incorrect and offends people
whenever they talk but when they type and send
emails... man, you think this person is as close to
you as your mom/dad.

On the other hand, I know some others who easily
offend others in an online format but when it comes
to conversations, I find that they are soooo much
different!

Is there a point to this thread? Hrmm, maybe. I
really don't know... it's probably an observation/rant
off what I saw in the main discussion forum.
