Ok. Here's my mock-up that I just created. Took a couple of hours but once it's a template, I'm sure it will be easier. I'll be showing it to a bridal couple tomorrow morning to get genuine customer feedback. I hope they go for it because I think this is a cool idea.....but then again.....I've been married for 22 years. You can see the real site on your cell phone at Save The Date Mike |

Mike, On the 'Reception Venue' page you misspelled 'ceremony' wrong at the top. I don't normally point out spelling errors in public, but don't want the future bride and groom to find it tomorrow. |

Wow! an amusing idea indeed. I believe it will save a lot on printing wedding cards and posting (distribution). We are eagerly waiting for that moment. Of course, there will be some challenges at first, but they will encounter brains which shall smooth the way through.

Nice job on the template CP! btw: If you're going to misspell 'ceremony' - spell it C-E-R-E-M-O-N-E-Y  As "in your pocket"... |

Very nice. Just a few picky things: Less script-type font for headline or at least less soft shadow. Makes it hard to read, especially on smaller screens. Top image maybe half the current height so that viewers know there are actually buttons below the fold. All pages except the main page use either half-height image, or no image at all to show more of what they clicked for. (Info, map, etc.). The image is nice to see ONCE, but I don't want to see it on every page! I like the RSVP. How did you code the food choices in? |

Yes I did As for pricing we have done 2 now and the pricing was quite different. The first one was very basic so we charged $150 however the second was more complicated and included a video invitation, bridal shower invite and bucks night. Plus we will be add photos and videos of the wedding afterwards and so for this we charged $500 Quentin |

I too think this is a great idea Quentin. I have two clients in the wedding industry, one a photographer the other in wedding hair and make up. Their mobile presence is very important to them and I can see how offering a service like this to them as an add-on product they could offer their clientele or wedding planners could be a perfect match.

Nice! Although I had some loading issues on my DroidX. First it loaded with a little bit off the screen. Then it loaded correctly. And when I click on the icons (nice touch!), it takes longer to load than more basic mobile sites. (I assume there's nothing yet on the other pages?) I like how it kept the video on the same screen and didn't ask me to go out of the mobile site. Did you do that specifically or just do a normal embed? Lastly (and this is just a personal preference) I would lose the header photo on all pages except the homepage. It will give you more room for info above the fold on those other pages. My thought is why waste a half page of real estate for a photo that I've already seen on the homepage! My 2 cents...

Yes nothing on other pages, no issues on iphone, video is embeded, there is one problem with video some old iphone not updated os can't read video, just a black screen in place of video. Yes, the header image is not a good solution for all pages.

4webmaster - Nice design. It loaded pretty quickly with my HTC Thunderbolt running 4G. Who's script are you using? Also, we had our meeting with the bridal couple yesterday and I showed them my mock up mobile website. They really thought it was a cool idea and liked it a lot. However, they said that most of their family is older and won't have smart phones. But their friends would. We didn't go over pricing (the meeting was kinda rushed) but I told them that I'd let them know once I "officially" offer this as a wedding add-on. They said to definitely let them know. I'm gonna send them an email to ask them some pricing questions. This couple didn't have a whole lot of extra money to spend on bells and whistles like this.....although we did book their wedding video (and got a call today from a friend she referred to book that wedding too). Gotta love referrals. One other thing..... The Knot (www.theknot.com) provides a free personal wedding website for bridal couples. Here's one of a bride-groom which we'll be videotaping next year. Welcome : The Knot Wedding Websites This may give some good ideas on what to include on the mobile site....BUT.....if it starts catching on, I'm sure The Knot will start providing free mobile sites as well. LASTLY.....I know, this is getting long but I'd rather pack it all in one post. I was at a Christmas party last night and met a woman who publishes a local magazine. I showed her the Wedding Mobile Site and she loved it. In fact, in a few months she'll be doing their Bridal Addition for their magazine and wants me to write an article about the mobile site. How cool is that? Mike |

Great info MrCouchpotatoe! Just curious how you knew the bridal couple. Are you involved in their wedding? Or was it a wedding planner? I'm trying to figure out if it's better to pitch wedding planners or an actual couple getting married. I would think a wedding planner since they can give you future business and it makes them money too! |

I'm offering mobile only version with hosting, for desktop I add a mobile simulator accessible by guests that don"t have mobile devices. Why simply it's cheaper for clients and don't have to work on a desktop website that will be double task. They have option for desktop but will have to pay more.

not just the Wedding Planners (are there planners who help think of clever ways to get engaged?) Photographers Videography Caterers Floral Musicians Salon Gowns / Seamstresses /Tuxedos / Tailors Limo Hospitality Jewelers Realtors The ties to this one niche go on and on...almost unlimited possibility... (I remember reading a wedding announcement once, where the Bride's dress was described in extensive detail for several paragraphs...down to the stitches, and the thread used... The last line of the story said: "The Groom was dressed in a Black Tuxedo". That was it for him! He was lucky just to get mentioned! :rolleyes

What do you think of this idea? Do you think its a good idea to give away a free but sponsored mobile site to the wedding couples? Sponsored by whom you may ask? How about from the services the couples engaged. Since the mobile wedding site will be going out to a lot of people, friends and family members, these wedding services might want to promote their products or services in-front of these people. What better way then to co-sponsor the mobile wedding site. Eg. You can charge $100 for each sponsors. Just add links to the navigation menu and create a simple one page for each of them. Or, just include one navigational link to the sponsor page and put all the sponsors in that one page. Example of co-sponsors, and imagine the possibilities from just one mobile wedding site. Maybe a good target is a minimum of three co-sponsors and you will already make $300. Photographers - $100 Videography - $100 Caterers - $100 Floral - $100 Musicians - $100 Salon - $100 Limo - $100 Hospitality - $100 Jewelers - $100 Realtors - $100 I was thinking of a win-win situation where everybody benefits. 1. The bride and groom get to have a mobile wedding site with no money out of their pocket. 2. Wedding services get to promote their products/ services to hundreds of people for very little money. Is $100 affordable & reasonable enough for them? 3. And you got paid for your services, and maybe more! Think about it. If you were to just sell one mobile site, you will profit from only that one sale of maybe around $300. But if you get a lot of co-sponsors, you might make more than that. Here's an idea for an upsell.. A neat trick would be to have a free link to their company's website. Once the couple's wedding site is done, contact or email the sponsors and briefly mentioned that their standard website is not mobile-friendly. From there, maybe we can upsell them a full mobile site. What's your take on this? Is it possible and will it be accepted by all party involved? |

Was just thinking about NOT having a RSVP button. What if they wanted 50 people to their wedding and for whatever reason, their mobile site goes mildly viral. I think they'd be pissed if they got hundreds of RSVPs coming in!! |

As for added invites like bucks night etc we just added it to the site and the client send an sms with a link to just those pages. As for the SMS button remember the site will only be there for a month or so and a simple no index will stop it from getting in the search engines. Q

Like some of the others on this thread I am currently working on promoting this idea. I purchased your script some time ago but decided to go in a different direction. The mobile wedding invites idea totally ties into what I am currently doing in the bridal/wedding industry and I am confident that I can really make a go of it. I am very thankful for your openness. I will update you when I get everything in place.

I haven't seen this mentioned as a way to "Make Money with Weddings" so here goes; A few yrs ago (2006) I noticed how many "Wedding Shows" were going on at the end of the year and in Jan. These are special promotions designed to provide info and vendors for folks planning on a wedding. Usually held in a large Hall or Convention Room. They're held in the winter because most weddings are in the Spring and Summer. Well....I went to a few of these Shows and....got one of my "Hot Flashes"; "Why don't I put together a "Wedding Book" that has much info for brides and grooms AND....Vendor Ads?" So....I did (see below) I gave each advertiser a FULL Page and got a BUNCH of advertisers. I was surprised at the diffferent types of businesses that were interested in being seen by Couples getting Married. And.....because I had a Unique and POWERFULL method of distributing my Wedding Books....I was able to fill the spaces quickly AND....at a good price. So...here's how I distributed the Books; I gave a FREE Full Page Ad....in the FRONT of my Books....to.... ......JEWELERS! An EXCLUSIVE Ad to each one....for Freebies! And, the agreement was....they were to give a Book to each and everyone who bought a....get ready....you sitting down....OK....I won't hold you in suspense any longer. I had Jewelers give a Book to everyone who....PURCHASED AN "ENGAGEMENT RING!" The Jewelers were happy to do this because it made them "look good" and, they were the ONLY Jeweler in the Book. Their competitors weren't in the Book they were giving out. (I changed this later) So....that was back in 2006. Fast forward to 2011. Why couldn't you do this with a "Mobile Directory of Wedding Vendors". Create Mobile Sites for each Vendor and print up a nice looking Card that had a QR Code and the url of the "Mobile Wedding Site Directory". Because you'd NEED Jewelry Stores to hand the Card to people buying Engagement Rings....you'd not charge Jewelers. Now....one step further; The Wedding Vendor Mobile Sites also have "Discount Coupons" .....providing Motivation to "Engaged Couples"! So....I've already helped 2 people put this together and they are "Happy As Prunes". In fact....one gal has rented a space in 3 Wedding Shows where she'll be handing out her "Card" that directs engaged couples to her "Mobile Directory". All it takes is a little "thinking out of the box" Don Alm....never "boxed in" |
