Why does the search your threads not work?

If you go to search your threads on your profile to find old posts, why doesn't it show the most recent posts that you have made? It shows posts from over a month ago...?

Is there anyway to fix this? Is it a cache problem?

I believe it's been off and on for a while since they moved the site when Freelancer bought it.

Not a lot you can do personally I don't think.

True - and it's been only one month since the search function "broke" - imagine what it will be in 6 months. Be even more old threads bumped as those will be the only topics visible in a search.

Anyone who is running a WSO or other ad needs to have the ad in their signature if they want people to find it.

Someone sent me a PM yesterday asking me details about one of my threads regarding Amazon. He did not give me the link and since I created a number of amazon-related threads before, I couldn't find it. I gave-up after 10 minutes of searching...

My "find all posts by user" function has been broken for about 6 months. Before the recent posts disappeared my searchable posts were only going back only a few months just like now. When the search did take me back to the beginning of my time here large chunks of posts were missing and sometimes I would need to click the search function multiple times just to see the incomplete results.

My "find posts by user" function broke a month or two prior to Alaister declaring the function fixed back in June.

        http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-...een-fixed.html

At least a half a dozen different threads have been posted since then and so far no search satisfaction.

It's a real problem trying to track posts and users that you are interested in and adding another subscription to the 700 I already have is not the answer. I want to easily be able to scan back through my posts and I want to be able to easily scan through the posts of others.

        Cheers

It was off for a while after forum was moved - then it started working but was a bit sporadic. At least you could play with it a bit and perhaps find what you needed.

Years ago (prior to 2008) the WF forum search function didn't work. You could get a little info here and there but for the most part it was broken. Moving to the new platform in 2008 fixed it - then FL moving it broke it again.

I understand things can break - I don't understand not fixing things when they break.

Search is a core function of a forum. Hard to believe that it's just not getting fixed and pronto.

That just gives very random and unreliable results. You cannot search a person's profile and come up with all of their posts using Google. I just did it for my own user name and the results aren't even close to the results that you should be able to get by going to a profile and clicking on the link to see all of their posts.

There was a time when anything posted on the WF was quickly indexed and most threads could be found using google. That isn't true now and hasn't been true for some time.

What would help is fixing the search function but doesn't seem like that going to happen. It's a shame because there are so many good threads here about various methods and tactics in IM and they are not accessible without hours and hours of digging through old threads/posts.
