A child of the early 60's, some of my earliest and fondest memories of television are Wonderful World of Disney, Mutual Omaha's Wild Kingdom, and Walter Cronkite. Walter Cronkite was the news for me. It hasn't been the same for me since he gave up the nightly gig.

Rest in peace, Walter. You are truly an American icon.

A genuinely amazing man. His life as journalist was second to none. A fact few people seem to know: On D-Day he flew into France with the pre invasion soldiers in gliders and reported on the invasion from behind German lines.

Holy cow. That's sad news. He was about the last of the real journalists.

    See ya later, Walter.

I just watched a memorial on him that one of the news channels aired. God I had forgotten what an American Hero that man actually was. Politicians quaked when he walked into view.

We can hope that running that review will shame the present crew and they will get on the ball and grow a set and learn how to actually investigate.
