Hi,

The copy.com service will be discontinued on May 1st. I want to move my data to another service. What is your suggestion?

Could you be a bit more specific? Is this for large personal backups or collaboration or what? There's different services to suggest here depending on what you're doing.

Google drive is sufficient for most people.

  • I am personally using Dropbox. Works well so far. I refer my friends to get additional free storage. You can also get a 1TB storage for only $9.99

You can also try the following:
    Google Drive
    One Drive
    Box
    Apple iCloud
    Media Fire

Dropbox is good, but it uses up your computers memory! And you need to pay $100 or so, in order to put it online only!

I tested several and Google Drive came out on top!

Loads fairly quickly, is reliable, and is online only. It also downloads pretty fast, and the links always work.

It isn't perfect, but comes close!

That wasn't my experience. I don't use the desktop app, and I also haven't spent anything for the online version.

I use Dropbox to share files with clients and outsourcers, mostly because Upwork has some nice integration features with them.

I use Google Drive for collaboration, such as when more than one person needs to edit a text or spreadsheet document.

I use Mozy for backing up all of my files.

Pretty sure it is 5 gigs, then it is something like $5 a month for l think it was 20 gigs, you will have to check, but the paid service is reasonable.

Yes, if you sign up online only, then it is possible to avoid all of the crap necessary to make it online only, when you have the computer app.

But if you go for the computer program first, then unless you spend about $120, and get a business account then the online only part is out!

I used to use DB for transferring files from my Laptop to my PC, but it eventually stuffed up, so l use a USB stick instead.

I mainly use DB as a dumping ground for image posting!

But l rely on Google Drive for monster graphic files, since all the links work.

Pretty rare, to find one that has active links, most of the competing businesses out there, have nice looking sites, but dog storage services.

          I tried a few, and wished l hadn't!

The only issue with GDrive, is if you want to pause a download you have to install some software into your computer, (similar to DB) which for W7, doesn't work!

It craps on about clearing cookies, which doesn't make any difference, at least on the Firefox browser.

And as for IE, won't work at all!

But as l said, small, bug for a great platform.
