I jst got an email with a from address from Internal Revenue Service <no-reply@irs.gov>
And the body is as follows

--------------------------------
Taxpayer ID: YourName- bunch of numbers
Tax Type: INCOME TAX
Issue: Unreported/Underreported Income (Fraud Application)
Please review your tax statement on Internal Revenue Service (IRS) website (click on the link below):

It's a phising scam when you open the link it asks you to place your confidential information in order to see what's that about. Don't do it, it has irs.gov in the domain name but it is a subdomain of another website.

Just figured I would alert you guys about this in case you see this in your email. The IRS will never email you and ask you to input sensitive data.

The IRS has a website dedicated to phishing just like that. Here's the link to forward the email to:

I read an article a couple days ago that was showing how people will get into a server thats not theirs and run phishing scams from subdomains and the actual site owner/webmaster may never know about it.

I've noticed that the scams are getting a bit more sophisticated. Right now I have a package that can't be delivered without my home address correction, LOL. I won't get it though because the address, phone, and email I gave them belongs to the CIA. Wonder if those guys will be nice enough to forward it to me when they receive that "package".

    Heysal,

I'd like to add the CIA to my list. I get a bunch of crap. I emailed one of those ambassadors from Africa back to tell him I couldn't possibly accept any more money. I'm just to rich from all those long lost relatives. Who knew?
