Hey just getting ready to fly out in a few hours. And I know some of you said you would be alone during the Holidays. So I decided to make this Thread as kind of a Fellowship of sorts. Where people can come in and talk about anything related to the Holidays ( or anything for that matter), how they are doing, shoot the shit etc...etc...

I will try to post as much as possible but will only have access to my phone so I might be limited ( I can't stand it because my fingers are too big for the keypad to type)

Anyway, everyone have a safe and Happy Holidays !!

So where are you flying too. I suppose anywhere outside TX can be viewed as a vacation.

Don't you know what a stylus is? You can get them from any cheap discount store. Almost looks like a pen but shorter with a rubber tip for pressing the buttons.

Yep, Christmas shopping is even worst when on all fours.

            That's why Claude drives everywhere.

So, a Chinese buffet with friend, daughter and kids yesterday, Xmas dinner buffet, not really. Got the kids some presents. Another dinner on Thursday, that will be my social activity this year.

You think I have a Monopoly on this? I usually just wear a suit and a Bowler Hat and carry an umbrella and a copy of the Times. I was never Harry Stocracy.

Wondering what Xmas day will be like in the Riffle household this year. There you are son, an Xbox, Daddy just wants to borrow it indefinitely for a while.

Meh. I haven't been much of a gamer for about 15 years. However, it's funny you mentioned video games. Along with numerous books, STEM toys, and an annual pass to a local jump park, the boy is getting one of these:

                  https://www.iircade.com/collections/...32096704004185

Dad might check it out, too.

Great stuff. Yes, dad might use it too, quite a lot. lol.

I got my now ex wife a tabletop version years ago, that she could put her Ipad into, for a present. (thought it a novel Idea) Then she could play all the old Atari video games. Well, unfortunately, they were not free and she never used it.

My son and d-in-law are leaving at 4 AM to make a 7 am plane to colorado. They'll spend a week there and I'll hunker down and relax at home with the dogs (2) and the cats (2).

Headed to the horse farm tomorrow with pounds of 'christmas carrots' - and boxes of dog biscuits for the 8 farm dogs there. The animals know I'm a pushover for treats - so dogs will meet me as I park the car and several horses will be waiting at the gate.

Sadly - no snow for christmas here this year.

    Happy Christmas peeps.

All was going well until she embarrassed you by insisting on cutting up your steak for you.

  • The very best festive events demand a top hat an' a monocle ... an' only a top hat an' a monocle.

The only drawback you gaht is makin' sure your monocle don't fall off.

Mebbe I should draw up a Monocle Grippin' Strategies hot sheet.

Anyways, here is my festive greetin' to evrywan ...

I so love those delightful Victorian Christmas cards!

It is naht so long ago that all who wished to convey the cheeriest of seasonal greetings to friends an' fam an' pets would proffer to their loved ones *a card*.

An' if you take a look back to the Christmas cards of Yulesely delish Yoore, you will discovah always evocative imagry to make you smile.

Cheery Santas, reindeah fulla crazy stuff, streets alive with snow like the angels mislaid their buff stuffs directly above your home.

So you would write out your personal messages with these backdrops as illoominatory horizons -- sum schmucky winter scene or cheery lookin' robin to best accompany your invitation to question WHY AM I STILL ON HER LIST, THE DITZ?

Yeah, but also your heart circle would figure all the doodles & stoopid stuff.

(If'n you ain't drawn a dick on a Santa an' mailed it to your bestie, prolly nowan evah gonna love your ass.)

But as we shimmy between the digitally possible and the selectively permissible, don't you miss lickin' your tongue along the sweetest evah flaps of an IRL envelope?

    "Seal my message,

    keep it sweet.

    When 'tis Christmas,

    may it greet."

Tellya, I forgottun how mosta that actschwl glue stuff even tastes.

But I so love dowin' that.

ecards are supah swanky an' convenient,

but far as the festive lickability is concerned,

I see now I been way too lenient.

Uh huh, that is the best I can do for plantin' a srs MWAH on evrywan here as part of my all-consoomin' bonhomie.

So I raise a glass to you all, an' even as a prostrate Yoga gal prolly gonna spill it on her tits, I would hope my loft of spirit is sufficient for you to wanna join me in relaxin' for the holiday season.

It is our natchrl way when we jus' wanna smoochie on up.

    Sealed greetings. Open hearts.

No perhaps. Jus' lick the flaps.

    Send. Blend. Wenceslasery w/o end.

    Las' meet-up

    before a bright noo year

    starts.

Laurence - you are one of the most polite and respectful members we have here.... In spite of the obstacles you face in life you are always polite and uncomplaining. I know you are a dedicated freelance writer and editor and that you work on an old computer.

Sending a bit your way and hope you can at least upgrade your system soon.

What's everyone doing today/tonight? We are fixing to order up a slew of our favorite hot wings for lunch along with some chips and salsa and a pizza. Watch the games and later sip on some vodka tonics as well as crown royal (apple) to ring in the new year. And we will just be chilling at home.

      How bout you guys ?

Anyway , please be safe and remember just do not drink and drive

We're going to a friend's house for our annual New Year's Eve party. We skipped last year.

Just an evening of poker, football, and excessive amounts of artichoke dip and cowboy caviar. I'll have a couple beers followed by a glass of champagne as the ball drops.

It's funny. This party used to not end until breakfast or lunch on New Year's Day. Now, everybody gets kicked out at 1am. And we're happy to oblige.

Getting old sucks, but I don't miss the hangover.

So true. I'm on my second devils backbone as I speak. Will stop after this and probably wait and have a couple of vodka tonics around 8 or 9. Just slow sips with a light buzz.

Big game tomorrow for the Rose bowl. I am sure you are looking forward to that

It's hard to get excited for a non-Championship game. The Rose Bowl has become a glorified scrimmage and that's a sad comment on the current state of college football.

Don't get me wrong. I'll watch. It could go either way considering all the opt-outs the Bucks have.

It's pride , young man. Maybe I was mistaken but I thought OSU was your alma mater ?

It's hard to be prideful playing Utah in January.

I'm not an OSU alumnus. I was accepted, but went somewhere closer to home. My dad died during my senor year and I wanted to be close to home in case my mother needed something or something happened to her.

Had I gone to OSU, I'd probably be a 23rd year senior.

That was a great finish for the Buckeyes. Watch the beginning first half thought they were never coming back.. Great plays by the offense Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Stoudt, Harrison were the stars. Hope Utah's quarterback Cameron Rising is doing better today. Head injuries are very serious !

That game took 3 years off my life and the game didn't even matter.

JSN broke so many season, game, and Bowl records yesterday, it was crazy.

Stroud still doesn't have my full trust but I think it's due to his insistence on not running the ball. He might have the best deep ball I've ever seen, though.

Tonight? Probably read...maybe watch a few Doctor Who episodes I recorded.

As an old person (and their official spokesperson) we don't really do anything on New Years Eve,

In fact, I'd forget it's even a holiday if it wasn't for not working tomorrow.

I'm glad you guys are going to have fun. We have fun just puttering around.
