New here: I need a 50 post count to PM someone?

I have heard of spam, but is that 50 posts really how bad its become? Thats definitely the largest post limit I have ever seen on a forum.

Is there anyway to remove that? There are some people in the BST section that I was interested in purchasing services from, but theres no way to get a hold of them because of the post limit:confused:

    Yeah I know that is really annoying. It would be better to rely on the system with reports. If someone is spamming they should be reported and then banned. This system leads to a lots of posts without value for many newbies just because they need the functionality of for example PM´s.

      It may lead to post of no value, but only temporarily,because those posts will eventually be deleted.

      I agree in theory. But in practice it sounds like there might not be enough altruistic community members who would report spam that diligently.

        Wow!

        Do you have any idea how insulting that is?

        A LOT of us report spam all the time. You would probably be amazed at how many spam posts disappear, AND how many spammers get banned.

    I've never needed to PM someone to buy from them.
    As far as removing the 50 post requirement,you can either make 50 legitimate posts,meaning say something of value, or take the quick route and join the war room. I undestand that gives you instant access to PMing.

      I plan on the 50 posts of value route (this one isnt valuable enough to meet my requirement)

    I probably report something I consider spam here in the OT daily. Its not my final decision, I just make the report,like many others here.

    Yes -- if I'm not mistaken, if you join the War Room that limit gets removed immediately. And that's the most trivial benefit you get as a member there, IMHO.
