Hello. I wish I would have found this forum a long time ago. I don't understand most of the information here, but I will.... eventually.

I started a forum a year ago for the middle class. I'm not sure I can post a link to it, so I won't.

I am looking for ideas not only to market the existing forum but also start other ventures.

Sounds like a great bunch of people here. I read a post where a member was having kidney problems and the amount of support was awesome.

You have found one of the best forums around. Even if you don't fully understand the world of webmastering, marketing, web design and others, you can still find plenty of great information by just going to the proper category and asking as many questions as you need and you will receive plenty of responses from willing people trying to help you out. And if you feel like taking a day off from the work stuff, you can just come here to the general discussion area of the chat room and talk about just about anything within reason. So welcome Lori. It's good to have you as part of our WF family.

Hi Lori, and welcome! You're right, this is a great place with supportive people. Not that you can believe every single thing you read here, but in general, I've found it to be one of the most reliable sources of information on the web about online marketing and everything related.

Keep reading, and it'll start to sink in.

        Thanks for the welcome.
I have been researching how to add a paid subscription to my forum and that's how I found this place.

I have very little knowledge with websites, know basic html, learning a lot.

Some of the stories seem a bit too good to be true. I'll spend some time here, letting it all sink in.

There are some people here with incredible talent and I have no doubt I will learn a lot.

        Thanks again for welcoming me.

Does anyone have advice on how I get can more members to join my forum? I believe there is valuable content there. I understand good information is one of the main reasons people visits forums.

I have over 300 members, over 1,000,000 page views the last couple of months, but just can't seem to get people to post; engage in conversation. It seems they join, get the information they want and then leave.

I appreciate any advice you can give me. Thank you.

Hello. Once again, I am extremely grateful for the information here. I have learned more from this forum than any other websites I have visited.

After finding this forum and realizing that I can make money from what I enjoy and believe I have what it takes to be a good writer, I decided to create a website/wp blog to promote my articles and writing skills.

I am in the process of following the advice on this forum re: SEO and before I get too involved in that step, I was hoping I could get some expert advice on my website.

If you have the time to take a look at lorikellywrites dot com and provide me with some constructive criticism, I would be sincerely grateful.

If there are any coaches who are interested in helping me get my business off the ground, get my site to the first page of google, I would be willing to pay for your knowledge; expertise.

      Thank you.

  • Hey Lori - fellow newbie here and just thought I'd say "hello" and wish you all the best!

PS: Just seen you're from Texas, a place I hope to travel too one day to write a book... OK, not so significant it may seem BUT I'm always on the lookout for Texans with recommendations on where to go to watch the best high-school football (American Football) teams...

Anyway, all the best and I hope some of the guys and gals on here can help you out!

Thanks George. The hill country in Texas has some really good high school football teams. When you have plans to visit the State, let me know. I would be happy to tell you everything I know about Central Texas.

Your website looks awesome. Very simple, attractive design.

It appears we are both starting in IM about the same time. It is very overwhelming. I read everything I could get my hands on for several weeks, close to a month and although I learned a lot, I was very confused, unsure how to start or which direction to take. So I stopped reading and started writing. I love to write, have been writing for years and decided to do something that I know and enjoy.

I have spent the past two years as a consumer advocate, helping people fight foreclosure. People would ask me to help them, saying that they were not getting anywhere with their bank sometimes after a year or longer. I write letters and/or a press releases for them and they would not only get one call, but several calls from their bank immediately after the bank received the letters. I research chains of title, home loan securitization information and state foreclosure laws. My background is a paralegal for close to two decades. I honed my writing skills working for attorneys and as they were able to bill for my time, I learned a skill I never would have thought valuable. I was wrong. And I'm glad I was wrong.

I wrote out a plan and made goals. I started a website, wordpress blog, and started writing. I am going the PLR route to start. It is my intent to have that business successful to bring in enough money to fund my other ventures. I will be writing website content for interactive media companies and that will be an income I can live on, comfortably.

I am no stranger to owning my own business. I started a resident agent service, incorporating businesses, forming LLCs, partnerships, etc. after I left the lawyers. I started that business with $10, created my own website, and when it grew to six figures in revenue, I sold it.

I am not cut from the corporate ladder material and don't play well with others, i.e. I am an employer, not an employee.

An entrepreneur has to have the ability to work hard, smart, and keep a positive attitude. I have no doubt I will be successful and that attitude will help fuel the fire and I will be enjoying the life of self employment, leaving the drudgery of the 9-5 as only a distant memory.

    Failure is not an option.

I hope we can share our journey and encourage each other along the way. Keep the faith, Ben.

Hi Lori - and thank you!

I hope to make Texas within the next couple of years. In fact, I hope to have achieved quite a bit in the next couple of years but one major one is the aforementioned high-school football visit. Through IM, I hope to generate an income that can sustain me indefinitely, enabling me to be able to visit and do the things I'd really like to do in life - as I'm sure you do, too.

It appears you've got quite a background already and it's amazing how many people, from all different backgrounds, cultures and walks-of-life try and succeed at IM. One common denominator appears to be "never giving up" though hell, I feel like that this morning! I think I've overloaded on information and now I'm confused as to where to start.

However - I'm happy you've defined a route for yourself and I'll be very interested to know how you're getting on?

I can absolutely understand what you mean when you used the term "I'm an employer, not an employee" - that resonates with EXACTLY how I feel and that's why making this a success means so much to me.

        Hey George.
You are so right, the members here are very diverse. It is great to have a forum where all IM people can get together, exchange ideas and support each other.

I have been writing articles for the PLR packs, learning wp and getting familiar with my ISP control panel. Although I could hire someone to do the back end stuff for me, I want to learn it as my loan term goals include creating many blogs.

I too was confused on where to start. Should I do affiliate marketing? PLR content, article writing? Copyrighting? Website flipping? That's why I stopped trying to take in too much information at one time.

You say you are on information overload, not sure where to start.
        Me too.

One thing that helped me focus might help you too.

I will start with PLR articles. I know who my target market is and how to target them. Creating short term and long term goals and went further, developed a plan to accomplish the goals.

I wish you luck. Come back here and let me know how you're doing or if there is anything I can do to help you, ok?

    Hey Lori,

    Welcome to the forum.

I have a friend in Kemah, Texas, so it's good to have you on board.

There are a lot of good people and great information available here on the Warrior Forum, and it can actually be overwhelming sometimes.

If I can offer any advice it would be this: Take your time. There are so many offers and products available, and it's easy just to keep buying and buying without implementing. I think the best thing to do at first is to focus on exactly what it is you want to achieve, and focus on that alone. Although there are so many great systems and strategies available, it may very well sidetrack you and slow you down.

It sounds like your forum idea is getting traffic, so unless you are able to harness that flow of people, then visitors will remain visitors and not contributors.

I wish you all the very best in your ventures.

Thanks Peter. Where is Kemah? I'm in the hill country, about 50 miles west of Austin.

Great advice. I wanted to buy every WSO, thinking it was like a pill that would shoot me into success. Wrong.

Great idea focus on what I want to achieve and no doubt, I was sidetracked. It slowed me down but I'm back and on track and have a solid plan.

Thanks so much for the welcome.

Ive started forums in the past and the problem i've always had has been getting contributors. i closed my forum in the end due to constant spam which seemed impossible to fight lol, it seems you're on the right track so all you can do is stick with it and maybe offer some sort of incentives to post ?

Hello IM Gold. (Nice username BTW.) I realized the reason I started the forum was not for monetary reasons, but rather an informational site to help people fighting foreclosure, exposing the scam of the Making Home Affordable Program, and providing foreclosure news-related information. After seeing the huge amount of traffic, I thought it might be a good idea to change my thinking and perhaps make money (at least enough to pay for monthly hosting service). It still might have potential to earn money, but it is good to realize that it goes on the back burner until I accomplish my other goals.

Great idea to offer incentives to post. Thank you.

Hi all. Fellow newbie here. I have been active ON forums before, but this is my first foray into actually creating an IM business for myself. I get to the point at times where I think I am going to explode with all the new information, and just have to shut it down.

What I love to do is write, but I do get lost in the researching about how to optimize the work I've set out for myself. I'm a baby boomer, but can't stop working yet, but oh how I want to! I'm hoping this venture will be just the thing I have been wishing for in my life. I love to write, and spend so much time at the computer anyway, why not make some money at it?

Anyhow, nothing substantive to say but one question -how in the heck do you get to the page that shows all the forums? I am stumped today. I don't know why I can't get there. Just be patient with this newbie and maybe somebody direct me to the link? thanks so much all of you. I hope to be able to give back to the community real soon.

Welcome doingwrite. It takes a while to figure out the forum, but the information here is well worth the effort.

I wish you great success and keep a positive attitude.

After re-reading one of my posts in this thread, when I said that failure is not an option, that is only partially true. I do realize that failure happens even to the most successful people. Remember that woman who invented Spanks? She went to all the major retail outlets attempting to get her product in those stores. She was turned down more times than she could count. Did she give up? NO, she didn't. And look where she is now.

Keep the faith. Never give up.

Thanks Lori. I am being very realistic about this journey but at the same time can't avoid being excited. Your post reminded me of that story about Einstein, who tried many times and failed before he was successful at the lightbulb.

If J K Rowling can turn napkin scribbles into a multi-million dollar venture, I can turn my venture into at least a situation where I am financially at ease from now on.

Still working on wp blog. Wrote a good squeeze page. Making progress.

The wonderful world of IM has fueled a fire and I cannot wait to get out of bed in the morning.

There is nothing better (at least for me) than not having to answer to a boss. Well, I do answer to a boss, me, and I'm harder on me than any corporate boss would be. I choose to work for myself and will make my business successful, as opposed to working for someone else and making their business successful.

I have so many plans and ideas. It is very exciting to be involved in an industry with no ceiling, no political games, a worldwide market, and endless possibilities.

Yes doingwrite, some of the most successful have used a bar napkin to get started.

There are not many business ventures one can start with very little money and earn six+ figures. The road to success is controlled by us, business owners, and we are in complete control of our future.

    It's a great day today.

Hi and welcome to the forum, this forum is great for some fantastic ideas, and it has a great bunch of folks. You can easily get innundated with too much info to work with, the general consensus is to stick with a topic that you would like to work with, and then get some ideas from the forum to market and promote it, be it blogging, article marketing, directory submissions e.t.c
