Just One Of The MANY Reasons Why I Retired

So this guy emails me and tells me he wants a sales letter for a link package.

I quote him $1,500.

He writes back telling me that's not in his budget. I ask him what his budget is.

$200.

Just one of the many reasons why I've retired from this ridiculous business.

People wanting something for nothing.

Tired of it...don't need it...done with it.

Now...what did I do with my Magic The Gathering cards?

Think it's time to enter some tournaments.

Sure as hell beats Internet marketing.

Ok, I'll give you $400 for the same sales letter, but I'll need you to let me pay you @ $10 a month. And that's my final offer.

I think that's reasonable, and the fact I'm offering you double what the free market has obviously set the price at makes me the good guy here.

I think we can all agree on that...

I want you to make my graphics too and if I have a bad rep and it doesnt sell then you should have written better copy and you are a scam artist, because I didnt make sales! Thats all I have to say..

Plus... dont you think $200 is kinda taking advantage, I mean I know you are a guru, but do you forget that other people arent rich like you?

your sig says your still open for business in the copywriting business, so that will only confuse the little puppets that read this even more.

I think you handled that all wrong Steve.
When he wrote you back saying that wasn't in his budget, you should of replied with a quote of $1600.

That answer your question? And yes, there are Magic card tournaments, though I'm now where good enough to play in them lol

It was right in front of my face. Ain't that typical? I'm not sure I've ever heard of Magic Cards That Gathering before its mention on this thread.

I wouldn't call $1500 a small amount of money. I know a guy who directs corporate videos for lower than that. He has over 20 years experience directing TV dramas and has won many awards. He freaked when he learned that I've sold domains -- not websites, just the domain names -- for that kind of price. I know that once upon a time not long ago, $1500 was but a sneeze in the bucket for him.

The sales page clearly says "Starting at $1,500."

So if he couldn't afford it, why did he bother to email me in the first place?

      Make sense?

Agreed. If he had a budget of 200 bucks, then he should have been looking for 200 dollar sales copywriters!

For $200, tell him that wouldn't even buy one sentence of ad copy unless he can find a cheap

Why should he read it he is, in his mind offering to pay you. Peanuts and monkeys come to mind!

Reminds me of when my daughter stayed here and every now and then she would offer to pay for gas... or buy some groceries... I never asked her to... but over the course of six months she probably contributed a couple of hundred bucks a little here and there... and suddenly there was a sense of entitlement because "I contributed too so I am entitled...". No you arent.... You are entitled to stay here as long as I let you,. and thats about it. I still OWN me and my house and my assets, even the intellectual ones, and Im still the boss of my house, even though I appreciate you helping me with the the gas to take you to work.

Well, to be relevent, alot of people want to OWN a MILLION DOLLAR MAN, because they give him twenty bucks... Doesnt work that way, but you WILL get what you paid for, in Koreans case that was a ride to work... In Stevens case its whatever he said he's selling for whatever price and thats it.
