Profile picture problem

Hi everyone!
I've a problem with my profile picture, when I try to upload my image it appears this error:
This is not a valid image file.

Why? It's a .bmp and I've resized it to 150xa150 pixel... what I should do to solve the issue?

    I think that may be the problem? You must have something like "Paint" on your computer? Have you tried saving it as a .jpg or as a .gif and uploading that? 150 x 150 pixels is certainly the size-limit for a "profile picture" ...

      Also even at 150x150 a Bitmap image may still be more then 100.0 KB.
      Right click the image on your computer and click on properties to see.

        The size is 68 kb and is 150x150 so it should be regular.... I try to save it with .jpg and .gif extension but this is the error:
        This BMP image has the incorrect file extension.

        Now what? I don't know what to do...
