IBM Computer Chip Mimics Human Brain Function

I have read in several places online that they say technology and its growth is basically doubling and compounding in on itself day by day.

Its no surprise that IBM have no come out with this statement.

If i where to take a guess i'd say we are going to birth AI within the next few years almost certainly.

FUNNY! I HOPE that "americans are not stupid" youtube series is FAKE! I mean most of that stuff is obvious or taught, and other stuff should be common knowledge. So HOW could someone graduate like first grade and be that stupid?

They have been claiming this for ******DECADES******! Several years ago, they claimed one had ALL the mental ability of a 4YO! Do you realize that a computer with all the ability of a 4YO would be smarter than almost anyone ever on the planet in a matter of DAYS!?!?!?!? IMAGINE! NO forgetting! Having the WORLDS knowledge! Able to do COMPLEX math in a ms! Not having to eat! NO entertainment! NO disease!

It would be smarter than almost everyone that has ever been on the planet in a few YEARS! I mean SERIOUSLY! If I remembered all I ever learned, *I* would probably be smarter than everyone on this board! The human brain is limited in various ways and many of its limitations have been eradicated or compensated for in computers.

Clearly, I don't believe it! WHO on the planet is SMART ENOUGH to be ABLE to do it and DUMB enough to actually do it?

IBM is KNOWN for selling small components. They INVENTED nickle and diming! So WHY would they invent a program that makes almost everything they have EVER done OBSOLETE? Even on a fame and value basis, it doesn't make sense.

You have to feed them electrons. If they become too smart for our own good, just unplug them.

BTW - The correct answer is "42" for all you Doug Adams fans.

Who knows. ever see colossus? Colossus: The Forbin Project (1970) - IMDb

It, like another, was hardened, so an enemy could not easily disconnect it. They found one another and it was love at first site! Each announced the marriage and that, should they break up, they would attack one another! So the russian couldn't pull the plug because the U.S. would attack! The U.S. couldn't pull the plug because Russia would attack. They couldn't disable silos, or conspire, for the same reason.

Skynet, of terminator fame, was similar!

This is controversial point. It is really strange to hear that chips can mimic human brains. It is more funny that male brain or female brain...

Women tend to be better in verbal and social. Do you REALLY want a social computer? And women are known for subtext! Computers are hard enough for many to understand. NO THANKS!

Women, that isn't meant as a slight, and IS true. And with human females, males kind of appreciate all that. Computers just don't need it, and have pity on us males. 8=(

Of course, computers work so fast that whether trying to mimic a male or female brain, they can do as well. But we CAN do without the social, etc...

OK, THERE I said it! Even most of the women's jokes about Male deficiencies don't apply to computers.
