Paranormal Activity 3

Anyone plan on seeing this for Halloween? I didn't at first, but its starting to look better as they keep releasing previews.

I'm sick of the gore in movies, it's better when its just suspense and surprises, lol not a bunch of nasty torture scenes like the Saw franchise.

Your thoughts?

I will never, never, never, never watch any of the Paranormal Activity movies again. I had nightmares for 2 weeks after I had watched the first one. I have an overactive imagination lol

    And yes, gore is overrated

The trailer with the two girls in the bathroom doing the "Bloody Mary" bit sold me.

Thoughts? The guy who created this series did so as an independent filmmaker some years ago. Shot the original on a strict seven day schedule, utilizing prosumer equipment to boot. His couple thousand dollar gamble has obviously paid off.

These movies are fun in my opinion. I've never cared for gore. The suspense, the music, the fact that your more scared of what you CAN'T see versus what you CAN is a big selling point for these films.

And to be honest, who hasn't been home alone and hearing strange noises in the house. We're creative beasts--with wild imaginations--which makes movies like these all the more "believable" in terms of entertainment.

LOL!! Trust me I know, it can be weird when you move in to a new place. We just moved from an apartment complex to a house to ourselves with 5 acres of land.. and to this day, doors and stuff creak - LOUDLY. Not just regular type creaks.. its weird man.

I keep the windows shut because of the AC (its the south lol) so I know it isn't being caused by any drafts. It just happens at completely random moments when nothing is going on. Really weird.

& BloggingPro, yeah that is what changed my thoughts about it. I watched the first 2, and the first one was the best. I thought this was just gonna be another "Friday 13th" or "Saw" lol, you know, the movie that comes out with a new one each year.

But the previews, including the one with the girls doing the whole "bloody mary" thing was pretty genius. We all did that (or the older crowd at least) when we were growing up, so it plays in to that.

I think I'll probably go see it on opening night (this thursday I think) so I'll bump my thread up and let everyone know how it was/is.

It only seems weird. It's not ghosts or anything. It's just that after the gulf was drilled the pressure in the caverns shifted - there's a whole series of them under the Southern US. So you're not being haunted. Your house may be swallowed up when the crust around it caves in if you have any tremors over a mag 3 though - you won't feel that, it's too light, but it will be strong enough if shallow to cave the top of the caverns. So you don't need to worry about waking up some night with a white transparent figure at the end of your bed. Sleep tight.

(um...Yes........I am kidding. Just practicing my horror writing. Was it good?)

There have been different and almost of variety of reviews regarding the previous Paranormal Activity movies. Some say that it is the worst horror movie that has ever been shown and that most of the scenes are boring and you will fall asleep waiting for the next horror scene. However, there are also some that have good feedback regarding this horror film and even suggest for people to watch Paranormal Activity 3 online. They say that we should watch Paranormal Activity 3 movie online because it is the paranormal activity on the next level. It is not just the ordinary, or some say the old paranormal activity series. It moves on a higher level and there are more scary scenes that what people expect it to have. The Paranormal Activity franchise continues with this third outing from Paramount Pictures. Oren Peli and Jason Blum return to produce the highly secretive feature, with Catfish’s directing duo of Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman taking on the helming duties. There are good comments regarding this movie and suggest people to watch paranormal activity 3 online.

I thought the first 2 films were boring and mindnumbing so I doubt I'll be seeing number 3, it felt like a waste of money and 2 hours of time to be honest.

I find footage films, like Paranormal Activity and Blair Witch Project, good on the first time. But the surprise factor usually disappears when they do make a sequel. The following movie is usually not as scary as the first one. The first PA was very scary, and the second one is scary too. But it just lost that essence the first one had. Turning it into a franchise is a bad idea, IMHO.

      lol
Maybe puppy was too scared to go investigate and thought you'd stay if it didn't want to go check it out.

It was probably something natural, but this kind of thing definitely would be spooky and creepy if you had just watched p.a. or the 'other', "Paranormal Entity." So now there are 4 of these types of movies. I'm going to say they'll call it at 6 or 7. But then in a decade they'll have to remake them since every movie is slated for a remake.

I love watching those kinds of movies. I don't know why. But every time I watch paranormal or suspense or horror movies, intense excitement and thrill are rising in me!

I don't even experience nightmares after watching. I think I was born for those movies. Love 'em so much!

I'll probably go and check it out

Like everyone else above I do prefer suspense to gore (although I am a HUGE Zombie movie fan...)

I like these films for the simple fact that they were done on the cheap and gave the $100+ "blockbusters" a run for their money

Which always shows to me: story over flash and effects will win every time.

I'm a horror movie fanatic. Have been for as long as I can remember.
The last movie that scared me and actually gave me nightmares was
    The Exorcist.
But, I will admit, I was "self medicated" at the time.

The house I grew up in was a small, 2 story house built in the 40s.
Every night about 15 minutes after everyone had gone to bed it would sound exactly like someone was climbing the stairs.
Well, here's the deal for all you folks living in older houses, hearing "things that go bump in the night".

Wood, as in floors, sub-flooring, and staircases, is pliable. It gives when you walk on it.
Then, when there no extra weight on it, ( like people walking around), it "settles" .
Just like anything that's pliable it has a natural tendency to return to its' normal shape.
Thus, the creaks and other noises made by other objects affected by the settling wood.

I haven't seen Paranormal Activity simply because, when I learned it was staged, I lost interest.
I thought The Blair Witch Project was borderline genius in its' simplicitly and miniscule budget. They didn't even have a script. The creators just gave the actors an outline of what they wanted to do and, while the actors were asleep in their tents, they would set the scene for next day. Like placing the stick symbols, etc.

I would compare "slasher" movies to horror movies the same as I compare Rap to music.
    Not in the same ballpark.
When I first moved in with my (now) wife she had 15 and 10 year old daughters.
The thought they liked horror movies. Halloween, Friday The 13th, etc.
Then I turned them on to The Exorcist, The Shining, The Changling, Ghost Story, and a few other good horror movies and they saw the light.

Dude, check this out everyone.. lol - for the past 3 nights, we have been woken up at 5 AM every single morning by a weird sound.

Today, it sounded like glass bottles clinking together out in the living room. Right at 5 AM. So I got the tazer and went to check things out, since I dont exactly believe in ghosts but I DO believe in burglars, and there was nothing there.

You can all check my post history, you will see that I'm not kidding.. I was on here at like 5:50 (I dont usually wake up until like 11 AM) this morning because I couldn't go back to sleep. Once I'm up, I'm up.. I just cant go back to sleep for some reason.

Then yesterday morning, it sounded like someone moved a chair or something, and that also happened right at 5 AM.

And as you can see from my original post on the 17th, we woke up at 5 AM because of some noise...

The dog isn't worried about these sounds one bit, but its starting to get a little weird.. I dont know what the hell to think. LOL

If the dog doesn't care, don't worry about it.
Dogs, as do all animals, have a "6th" sense about paranormal stuff.
Just as they do about earthquakes and tornadoes.
    Animals know when something's amiss.

Yeah I know, its just kinda weird to think about it. lol we have 5 acres, and this house was built a long long time ago. The landlord just remodeled it before we moved in.

And since this is the south, theres no telling what used to go on here.. this city was part of the civil war, slavery, all types of stuff. There is an actual cannon from the war cemented to the sidewalk downtown. Its supposedly a historic city.

LOL but anyway, yeah I know its nothing to worry about, its just getting kind of weird. I mean for 3 days in a row, exactly at 5 AM something wakes us up. The frame of the house and the wood that was used to build it doesn't know what time it is.. haha its just strange!

I enjoy watching the FAKE previews of audiences jumping out of their seat and spilling popcorn on themselves.

It is a movie I am guaranteed not to watch or rent as a dvd, and even rarer to watch on tv unless it is an extremely slow day and night, and maybe, still not watch it, even at that.

First, people don't even react nearly that excited, even on a roller coaster, much less a movie.

I have been to more than a few movies and audiences as a whole don't GRAB each other , shake and scream as either a large or small group.

The only one I remember doing that type of promo is Blair Witch Project.

BOTH, fake audiences being scared, both I DID NOT SEE or even rent as a dvd, and most likely, both SUCK big time.

I will place a very BIG wager that it sucks as bad as rotting road kill.

Maybe they should call it "The Blair Witch Project 3", sucks the same.
