Everyone is experimenting these days ...

Online websites really like to experiment with new things.
For instance, EZA offers a new interface as an alternative, for now at least. I know in the future they will their new one mandatory.

Same goes for Google, for Gmail more precisely.

Another big player is YouTube, which is also owned by Google.

I don't really find these alterations useful at all. They don't simplify anything. They just change it. They make it different. Why is that? Just to let us know they are still here for us? I know that because I can log on into my accounts.

So no thanks, I've had enough.

Do you noticed this too?
  • From your picture, you look kinda young...
But ya know how it is, when you have everything in your living room arranged very comfortably, everything flows just right - and you could walk in there in total darkness, and find just what you're looking for...juuust the way you like it...

Then - you come home from work one day, and your Wife was "busy" re-arranging the furniture all day - and asks, "doesn't it look so much better?" But it doesn't? But you know you can't say you liked it the way it was, and you want to change it back? - Because she will only store that in the 'you never appreciate anything I do for you - and one day you will be sorry' vault, for future reference? -
    It's kinda like that...

    Canyon,

For what it is worth, *I* understand what you are saying. all I can say is join the club. I went to a drug store, that I USED to frequent. One day some IDIOT went through and rearranged things! It was a WASTE of space! IMPRACTICAL! ILLOGICAL! Everything was in a different place, etc... They basically lost me as a customer. I went there for THREE REASONS!

    1. It was CLOSE!
    2. I could get in and out QUICKLY!
    3. I knew where EVERYTHING was! SERIOUSLY, I could browse it in my head while I was in the SHOWER at my home and EVEN find stuff that I never looked for before. I could plan out how to go through the store and go there as one of my stops.

I asked them WHY they did it! They said they WANTED to cause trouble. Their hope, according to THEM, was that I would find something ELSE I wanted on the way to things I wanted to get. Funny, since they had TWO primary demographics!

    1. Convenience, which they INTENTIONALLY tried to defeat!
    2. Drugs/first aid. Which is likewise hurt.

And there is Godaddy! They try to make it sound SO simple, and then keep moving around the options to do things like setup name servers! ALSO, they do EVERYTHING they can to obfuscate things in an OBVIOUS attempt to try to get you to add to your order.

Hell, I pay MONTHLY for a service that added ads. The ads DO have an option to skip, but they move the buttons, and change their look, so it is something you can't automatically do! JUST in the hope that their PAYING customers might "accidently" see an ad that might get them to buy.

Of course, microsoft windows does the SAME thing! and did you know that some sites, techniques, or programs have certification programs? Oracle and Microsoft are two among HUNDREDS that do this. Sometimes new certification programs include things like totally caprecious changes THEY made to the subject matter. So people wanting to keep their certification up to date may have to pay HUNDREDS or THOUSANDS of dollars because of senseless changes that confuse all their customers! It is ONE thinng if it is to add needed functionality, or make it logical, but just for the heck of it!?!?!?

      Going by the topic:

Everyone is experimenting these days ...

I thought this was going to be a thread about experimenting in college, lol.

@MoneyMagnetMagnate : Yes, I'm young and not married. And yes, that is what I was referring to, the ability to do it "in the dark". It bothers me a bit that now I have to "turn the light on".

@seasoned: I hate when stores change their shelves and product placement too. I mean, what's in their heads? Don't they think? The irony is that, I strongly believe, that even the employers forget how they rearranged the shelves and end up in front of one, only to discover they've moved it in the other side a while ago. Hahaha!

@payment proof: Well, the beauty of this part of the forum is that nobody will penalize you if you go off topic and talk about something else, after all, we're in the "off topic subforum".

So go ahead, add something if you wish.

Another thing is that sometimes you can ask an employee where something is, and they KNOW! The chance of that happening DECREASES as you move stuff around.

A friend once asked me to tell hm how to change name servers. I told HIM that they moved them since I last changed them. He figured it out, but INSISTED that I should make the interface less confusing. I told him that it was 100% godaddy, and had no control over it.

    Canyon,

It is SOCIETY'S problem that "Everyone is experimenting" makes people think about methods of getting high, etc..., NOT yours. What you said made sense and all. I wish SOCIETY would change. "Payment proof" had an LOL after that statement, so maybe "Payment proof" feels the same way I do about this.

  • Actually some alterations are unwelcome and only test us on whether we can move on with any change or not. You wake up to find a new look of things and on trying them out you just feel like going the old way. But this old way remains shut so that you can learn to embrace these changes.
