  • Funny, she did that like she knew exactly what to do and how to do it...

Well, she is a Golden Retriever retriever, after all...

Having had dogs, cats, and a bunny I totally agree that dogs are heads and tails above the rest. Especially the Golden Retriever, very smart and loyal. Best puppy I ever had .

I can see you are a very astute judge of fine dogs!

We are not called 'Golden' for nothing!

Try your local Animal Shelter/HUmane Society first. If you must go to a pet store, make sure you use one that doesn't buy from puppy mills.

I have a better one for you (please note dressing her up was not my idea). My puppy at 4 1/2 weeks:

Most definitely. I'm looking to get another one soon and a good friend is helping me keep an eye out for Goldens that are in a shelter. It's always more rewarding to save a puppy .

          Awww!

          She is gorgeous!

Dressing her up was a wonderful thing to do! Every girl wants fashionable accessories for photographs.

You can take credit for the idea, I won't tell anyone.

Other animals also will save their babies. I had a kitten stuck high in an oak tree. Cat claws are great for climbing - but not as good for getting back down. She had climbed in a panic when a dog next door was barking. The mama cat would look up into the tree - but didn't seem upset.
For two days the kitten cried and I worried.

I called my vet the second day the kitten was in the tree and he said she could become dehydrated and weak and fall out. So I called a tree service who agreed to come the next morning (third day) to climb up for a rescue.

Late in the evening of day 2 - the mother cat decided enough was enough. I watched as she climibed 25-30 feet into the tree. Limb by limb she coaxed the kitten down - it took over an hour. I sat on the patio and watched the rescue. When the kitten balked on the lowest limb 8-10 feet from the ground, mama picked it up and carried it the rest of the way. She could have done that from the top - but she taught a lesson in climbing instead.

Where is it, Joe? I looked on Youtube next to the other one. I would love to see it if you have time to post it!

        Found it! (duh)

        So Sweet.

Reminds me though of when i was a kid - my aunt and uncle had a dog - a silver blonde cocker spaniel named Bo -

When they put up the Christmas tree in their living room Bo was impressed with their thoughtfulness to bring a tree inside the house for him (so cold outside).

He proceeded to lift his leg and peed all the Christmas presents under the tree.

        So not sweet! Bad doggie!

LOVE puppies - and bunnies. Good thread to wake up to after a really sucky day yesterday.

Of course, animals will try to save their kids. People -- animals aren't as much different from us as we like to think. I saw a great video of a couple of elephants saving one of their kids when it got in a little too deep.

Well, it is said that a chimp finding a cookie in a bottle may keep his/her fist clenched to grab it, and find the fist stuck in the bottle. Some things just take a little thought. The mother here obviously thought about things, and tried another approach. I think it is viral because of THAT rather than an animal fighting for its offspring.
