Gmail spam

It's now got to the stage where I get about 50-60 spam emails into my Gmail SPAM folder every single day. I know I did something a while back that opened the flood gates but I just can't remember the real cause.

Does anybody have a suggestion on what I need to do to clean up this mess? Filtering is too time consuming, are there any any measures other than to close the account and open a new one.

    Have an old AWeber account? Most, not all but most of my spam originated from an AWeber breech a year or two back.

    Gmail does a great job (for me) of picking off spam. I do a quick glance in the spam folder, then 2 clicks and the spam is gone.

    I bet I don't spend 3 minutes a week on removing hundreds of spam e-mails.
