With being a rather social person who seems to thrive in the midst of people, I never dreamed I would find such pleasure in the sounds of silence.

For the first time in 12 days, I am home alone. All holiday company have left and are now in their own homes and states and hubby is back to work. Hurray!

I'm ba-ack!

Did ya miss me?

    Hi MissTerraK !

I do believe you were missed! :p

I too love my family/friends, but nothing beats "alone time!"

Welcome back!! Now we just need HeySal!

P.S. Where the heck is Joe? I have a bad feeling that he is in some jail cell wearing an inappropriate Disney costume!

HeySal should be back on line soon. We did have a long overdue chat on the phone a couple of days back. She is pretty much overjoyed with her new crib and should be back up online soon.

As for Joe, last I heard, he was participating in a private paid forum for writers, but your comment was freakin' hilarious! Maybe it is spot on!

    I know what you mean
We were supposed to go to GA for Xmas with the family but work prevented
    it in the end.
It actually worked out well as my wife, son and i had a quiet and restful Xmas
by ourselves, normally after a big family get together we need a few days by
ourselves just to relax. Big noisy family's take a lot out of you

    Cheers

Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.

      You can say that again!

I'm almost envious of your quiet peaceful Christmas, but not quite. I only see my little brother and his two little children once a year and it is such a delight to do so.

Also, as my mom's birthday was the day after Christmas, we always regale one another with memories of her whimsical ways and such. This year during our reminiscences I had a recollection of her of when I was a very small child, a memory I hadn't remembered before. I was sitting on her lap and Christmas was drawing nigh as she was singing a little ditty that went like this.

      Christmas is a-coming
and the geese are getting fat.

      Would you please to put
a penny in an old man's hat.

If you haven't got a penny,
      then a ha'penny will do.

      And if you haven't got a ha'penny,
      then God bless you!

I've never heard it since that memory and was wondering its origins...

      Does anyone know?

      Thanks!

That is way "Kewl" news about HeySal! I'm so happy for her!

There has been a lull around here during the holidays! Sad that I didn't have family/friends around this year, but it was quite nice to enjoy the time with my husband!

Thanks for the update on Joe! I was worried!

I'm glad you are having your alone time, and some peace and quiet! I hope this new year brings your family many blessings!

    I found this:
Christmas Is Coming - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It's a really good explanation of it's origins and everything else! I found it an interesting read!

That's a very sweet memory of your mother. I lost my mother a couple of years ago. Like yours, my mom was, wow, something else! She had RA and osteoperosis and still managed to make/crochet toys and gifts for children (Ronald McDonald's House and kids in Africa).

Mom's are a huge part of our lives, more than we realize until they're gone. sniff..

Happy Birthday to your mother Miss T.
