Pink Floyd is 45 today!

The single " Arnold Layne" was released this day in 1967.

Post your favorite Floyd songs here!

Really? In many aspects it seems like Pink Floyd has been around forever. I can not believe that it has been only 45 years. They had many great hits that is for sure. Can I pick just one? Hum let me see. I will have to say that Mother is my favorite song by them.

Oh kind and understanding Mod, please move it there for me.
I reported the post with your comment above. The chances of a mod seeing your post are quite slim without a report. Too many posts for mods to read even a fraction of them.

Thanks Tina. Was just about to delete it here and post downstairs myself.
I'll be patient and see what goes.

If not by the time I get home later, come down to the OT and post again.

This Slim Harpo cover by Pink Floyd was recorded in 1965. I'm guessing it wasn't released until later?

My fave PF songs are probably "Money" or "Time", but for fun I'll use "King Bee" as my "one".

      Thank you to everyone.
They are one of those bands that we could easily post
A hundred songs for, all very good.Shame Waters and Gilmour could not get along, though they are just as good without each other.

Now Ray, I am quite surprised. The Movie " The Wall"
Is right in your wheelhouse. David Gilmour is one of the most talented guitarists you"all ever hear. Give it a chance, you'll like it,promise.

Reminds me of back in the days when you had to buy album covers to see imagery surrounding your fave band...or buy magazines... Otherwise "Imagine".... You use to ANTICIPATE whether a magazine was going to have an article on them or fold out... It was exciting.

Now people's fave artists are so accessible, that its cool...but it aint "magic".

I use to go out raking leaves so I could afford to buy mags with KISS posters in them and read about the kiss army... It was a cool time. Seeing an image of your favorite artist meant ten times more then... they really inspired your imagination.

    @ Bravo

Not surprising that Hendrix was a fan, still a cool fact to know. DG was about as creative as guitarists get, and literal decades before his time.

Same as. There are 2 bands that are closely tied in with my childhood. The Beatles and Floyd. The Beatles because I'm from Liverpool and Floyd because my folks and uncles had it on all the time. My dad used to play "run like hell" when we had to go somewhere to get me moving.

The album covers dark side of the moon, rubber soul and Sheik Yerbouti (these were always at the front of my dad's LP collection) are forever ingrained in my psyche.

I was in a store a few months ago...and I had on a Pink Floyd T-Shirt from a concert - The young counter girl said: "Oh, you like Pink Floyd - I love that band" - I said. "No - you love that you love Pink Floyd - I love that you love this band" - another generation of aprecianados...

I have spent more than an hour on this thread already listening to music....I have to pee...

The outro to this is one of my favourite bits of music of all time: (If you don't want to hear the whole song, fast forward to around the 8 minute mark and CRANK IT UP!!!).

      You're welcome,3M.

Moon was a rarity. One of those musical drummers, not just a time keeper, ala Watts .
