Mexican flag replaces American flag at school-what do you think

I'm deleting the original post, because some people took it personally and got bitter and angry over it because it happened 3 years ago and apparently there must be an unwritten rule we can't post stuff from 3 years ago and they blame me for not knowing it was 3 years ago.

The Mexican flag was placed over an upside down American flag. I thought this was disrespectful and asked what others thought, but a few people can't give their opinions without taking things personally.

Thanks to Kay, Art, Sal, Sleak, War and Star who can give their opinions without taking it personally and attacking.

    Hi, Valerie,

Expressing an opinion so publicly has to be a good thing - especially if it gets people talking about it three years later.

At least you can display your national flag. In the UK, displaying the Union Flag without a permit (and they are almost impossible to get>) is against the law. Brits are just fortunate that the law is not enforced during celebrations.

It is so wrong to replace the American flag. I am a Mexican born here in the USA and I would never fly the Mexican flag here much less replace the American flag with it. I agree with your comment that if they love Mexico so much, they should move back. My parents are also against such actions.

Now, if such actions happened in Mexico, lots of people would be in jail right now. In Mexico you can not mistreat the Mexican flag in any way what so ever. Hence they don't do flag burning like they do here in the USA. They would be subject to a lovely beating and torturing for such disrespect (I have a relative who resides in Mexico and he decided to wipe his car dry with a old torn mexican flag and well, he ended up in the hospital and 6 months in jail for his actions) They should enact such law here imo. If you are here in the USA, respect the flag to it's fullest.

When was the last time you saw anyone burning an American flag? (By the way, burning it is the proper way to dispose of an American flag when it's worn out -- how many of you super-patriots knew that already?)

You think that's a good thing? That's the kind of thing they'd do to you in Nazi Germany or the Soviet Union if you disrespected the government.

The flag is a piece of cloth, a symbol. You don't go into a restaurant and start chewing on the menu, do you? Can you tell the difference between a symbol and the real thing?

The politicians love it when people get distracted by trivial non-issues like this... they can earn cheap brownie points by grandstanding about the sacredness of the flag, and meanwhile no one notices while they loot the treasury, approve torture, our soldiers getting killed in two wars, economy down the toilet, etc etc...

I have to disagree. I think a LOT of people notice the war in Iraq, all the soliders who are dead, all the kids who will never know their Dad cause he was killed why "bringing democracy to Iraq" and the approval or torture. And the ppl who lost their friends and family members in the war don't care? Don't notice? Is that what you're saying? Most are against this, but what do they care? The president and CIA approved it. Speak for yourself, but don't tell anyone else what they do or don't care about.

Perhaps by using Google. I typed in "Montebello high school flag" and the very first result included the very emotionally hot emails, along with the facts of the matter: which are that on one particular day, students from a different school did the flag change without any consent from Montebello High administration, faculty or students.

Total time spent investigating: under one minute.

Edited 4/26 to remove the part not relevant to Montebello High. I request that other participants also edit or delete their messages that are not about either Montebello High, or about whether and how to validate rumors.

You sound quite angry. Is your blood pressure going up? You might need to check it and see. You are a little too bitter and angry for a post about a Mexican flag over an upside down American flag. Why so angry? And you are taking "Montebello High School" as if it's a direct attack to you personally LOL You are reacting as if someone was defaming you personally. Do you have a connection to Montebello high school or do you get riled up so easily all the time? I'm sure the high school is doing just fine so your anger and bitterness is in vain.

You might want to get a pet, they can reduce blood pressure. Or you may want to schedule an appt. with your Dr. There are meds for this you know. Anger problems can lead to heart problems.

And I don't believe for a second that you googled something, found a relevent article instead of opinion and read the whole article in less than a minute. Yeah, right. And I'm Michelle Obama. Try something more believable next time.

Mexican sympathizers in the US are just as bad as the Mexicans, within or without the U.S., who call for the overthrow of the United States and should be dealt with accordingly as enemies.

Valerie bringing this 'three-year-old' email back is just as pertinent today as it was then, if not even more so today.

If you refuse to do anything to protect what freedoms you now have, you do not deserve the benefits of those freedoms.

Political correctness and our own ignorance of the past will be our downfall.

Everyone jumping on Valerie for not checking with Snopes should look in the mirror, because you will NOT convince me that you have not done the very same thing!

Thank you for reminding us, Valerie, of this ever-present threat to our sovereignty. I think it's time for public schools to remind U.S. students that the U.S. flag is to be respected and teach them a bit of U.S. flag etiquette! I see far too many smiling faces in the crowd in that picture not doing a damned thing to remove those flags from that pole. In that respect those Montebello students are just as guilty as the students who placed those flags up there in that manner.

Yes, Sal, an upside down American flag is a sign of distress. This country has been in distress from our southern neighbors and their American sympathizers for far too long!

Our ancestors fought against the entire might of the British Empire in the Revolutionary War and kicked them out of this country. Mexico needs to pay attention to the history of the United States very closely, because we are not a bunch of French soldiers running from peasants armed with pitchforks.

What a lot of chatter about the American flag, some of it quite bitter.

Be grateful that you can display your flag - even if it does represent the most feared nation in the world. Before you all knee-jerk yourselves to death, ley me just make a simple observation. The flag has become more than a symbol to many Americans. It has taken on an iconoclastic existence because of the lack of anything else to be proud to support.

As such it is no longer an indication of national pride, it seems to have become an open challenge to anybody else to suggest that you should not be displaying it or that you should be treating it the holy grail. Your national flag is becoming as inviolate as the Q'uran is to Moslems.

I didn't know a simple flag issue and giving my opinion and asking others their thoughts would be such a big huge deal or I wouldn't have even bothered to post it. I thought ppl could give their opinion in a calm manner and not get bent out of shape.

As a military veteran, I am glad to see the American flag hung upside down, burned, and trampled on by its own citizens. That is what freedom is all about. Veterans have fought and died so we can have this freedom to treat the American flag as a rag. Good going.

President Ronald Reagan told this joke about a conversation with then Soviet Premier Mikhail Gorbachev. "Mr Gorbachev, Americans enjoy many freedoms you will not allow, such as criticizing the President and burning American flags." The Soviet leader said, "You are wrong, Mr President. Soviet citizens do have these same exact freedoms to criticize the American president and burn your flag."

That is downright disrespect, especially flipping the American flag over upside down when you aren't in distress.

If you live in this country, it's flag should be right side up and be the first one on the pole or anywhere.

Who do you think you are kidding, Valerie Sonora, aka Valerie Plame, aka Valerie E. Wilson, aka Valerie Plame Wilson, aka Valerie De La Razon and many others. You are not fooling me at all.

Here are the facts. Valerie worked in the CIA from 1985-2005 as a covert operative on weapons of mass destruction with the Iraqis. She was exposed and outed by the Bush administration, and is trying to sue the government in revenge for losing her job. Being extremely pissed off, Valerie is using her CIA training in cooperation with the Mexican government to take over the world. This plot is working, as more illegals are entering the country than ever before with impunity. The CIA should have realized never make a woman like Valerie so angry.

The Mexican insurgents' alliance leader is known to them as her alias, Valerie De la Razon, who has the connections and training to bypass all legal obstacles and seductively corrupting government officials. Putting Mexican flags on public schools, and using children for propaganda is only the beginning. The rebel uprising in Mexico is now spreading north into the United States and will soon meet with existing subversive rebel forces within the US and invade Canada. Using the captured resources of the US and Canadian arsenals, Valerie plans on moving these forces into South America, and continuing with the over run of China, India, Russia, and Europe. With the military of the major countries under her control, the invasion and occupation of the remaining countries will be swift.

The New World Order is coming, and the global currency will be the peso. Don't let these little surveys of hers fool you. She is building alliances for the subversive takeover of the world and the red, white, and green flag of Mexican supremacy will wave on every continent as the only world super power. Habla Espanol?

And I don't believe for a second that you googled something, found a relevent article instead of opinion and read the whole article in less than a minute. Yeah, right. And I'm Michelle Obama. Try something more believable next time.
I told you the exact phrase that I used to search Google.

I'm a fast typist, a fast reader, and very proficient at searching, from my previous decades of work as a software engineer.

The Google search returned in about half a second, and the Snopes article was at the top. I already knew about Snopes, so I picked that link.

The Snopes article loaded within about a second, since I'm using an up to date computer and broadband.

I'm familiar with the structure of Snopes articles. They repeat the rumor at the top of the page, then they explain the facts.

I saw at a glance that the article was indeed about the same email you sent.

I paged down a screenful at a time, scanning for the word "origins", until I saw the Snopes "origins" heading. If I'd remembered that Snopes uses this keyword, I could have searched for it. As it was, it took a few seconds to scan down each screenful's left margin looking at the Snopes section headings, until I found the relevant heading.
There were about three sentences to read.

Total time was less than a minute.

You can replicate the experience using the description I gave above. If you have an old computer, a dial-up connection, slow typing speed, and slow reading speed, it might take as much as five minutes.

It's interesting that when I explained how it's easy to prove whether or not something is true online, you accused me of lying. Well, I just explained how to repeat my process, in about the same amount of time. Now you have step by step instructions, and you can look up for yourself.

Edited 4/26 to remove the part not relevant to Montebello High. I request that other participants also edit or delete their messages that are not about either Montebello High, or about whether and how to validate rumors.

I invite other Warrior Forum readers to follow my step by step instructions and report on how long it takes them to replicate my results.

I also did a Google search for "montebello high school". The school's web site was the top search result. I clicked the link for the site from the Google results, and the home page loaded within a few seconds. I scanned the page, looking for the school's contact information. At the bottom of the page, I found the telephone number. As I'm writing this on Saturday, I didn't try calling the school. But as you wrote on Friday, you could have tried to contact them before getting upset about their alleged wrongdoing.

Again, I invite other Warrior Forum readers to follow my step by step instructions and report on how long it takes them to replicate my results.

I have proven that it takes only a few minutes to identify whether or not an exciting claim about alleged wrongdoers is the truth. Perhaps you weren't aware of how to do this kind of searching.

Edited 4/26 to remove the part not relevant to Montebello High. I request that other participants also edit or delete their messages that are not about either Montebello High, or about whether and how to validate rumors.

It's disrespectful. No, nobody should burn at a stake for it, or go to jail, or pay a fine, or get punched in the face, etc, etc, etc. This is a free country. It's just disrespectful... Honestly, it was probably the work of an idiot.

They are not idiots. Making such a careless broad racial slur like that against the illegal Mexican aliens who are merely trying to take over the US government and the world is politically incorrect. You should be ashamed of yourself and bow down in apology to the red, white, and green flag of Mexican Imperialism. Viva la revolucion!

Star69, I believe your questions and concerns about me deserve a thoughtful response.

Your concerns don't have anything to do rioters from another high school invading Montebello High three years ago to fly the Mexican flag.

Therefore, I'll start a new thread in the off topic forum, called "Star69 corrects Allen." I invite you to join me there.

In this way, I'll leave this thread available for further discussion of Valerie's concerns about the Montebello High incident itself.

Edited 4/26 because my responses to Star69's were removed. Apparently it's OK for him to have these questions and challenges for me, but not for me to answer him. I do have the citations he requested.

    Please let this post stand.

I have edited my posts to remove almost everything from me that's negative about Valerie. I have left in my concern that she should have used Google and/or Snopes to validate a rumor before spreading it. I have also left in one joke post responding to a comment from user "myob."

I still believe the original post starting this thread was about stirring up emotions, not about the truth. Perhaps I should have taken my "troll" concern to a moderator rather than responding in the forum. However I was over the line with my "dog" reference and I apologize for that.

Valerie made attempted diagnoses of my physical condition ("high blood pressure") and psychological condition (low IQ and "a cluster of personality disorders").

I'm fine with her announcing that she's set the software to not show her my posts.

However, I respectfully request that her particular post be removed or edited to withdraw these unfounded personal attacks against me.

I will not flag that post myself.

I request that other participants edit their posts to remove the heated part of the interaction between Valerie, Star 69, myob and myself.

I would welcome a personal message from a moderator or from other participants about any of these matters.

Star 69, please let me know if you would like a private message answering your request for third party citations. Apparently it is not allowed for me to answer your concerns in the forum.

    Regards,
    Allen

One day, my daughter and I saw a house with a huge Mexican flag being flown over an American flag which was upside down. I called the police who told me that there was nothing they could do as it wasn't a crime. A few days later, teh Mexican flag and American flag were taken down.

Everyone has the right to express how they feel. So is my expression any less valid than those with whom I disagree? I am not inciting violence, or disrespecting any people. Only stating that to disrespect the nation's flag within that nation is a deportable crime....ANYWHERE, but in the US.

        That's very, very sad.

Yea, when you look at US history, the "colonists" left ( or were thrown out ) their home nations --- because of various reasons, especially cultural or religious intolerance. Yet, many came over here as slaves or "indentured servants" which ment that your servitude could be purchased ( if you had the money ) after a set period of time. I agree that it's tragic that they ( nor we ) learned the lessons of why we left to begin with. In regard to Mexico, they can thank General Santa Ana for loosing California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, and Texas. Now with the Native Americans....that was just plain genocide.

It's not the job of the USA to police the world. We need to get out of other nation's conflicts, let them take care of their own people and we need to take care of our people here. I have no problem with other nationalities coming here----as long as it is within our established immigration structure which as stood and worked quite well for 180 years. I'm only a fourth generation American myself.

I expected to get flamed...that's ok. Anyway, we need to do what other nations do...have secure borders, and keep track of population who comes in and out of the nation. Why should someone come across from Mexico or Canada ( you don't hear a lot about illegal Canadians, do you? ) freely.......when we get stopped at the border and are REQUIRED TO HAVE OUR PASSPORT? Am I missing something?

Yes, you are missing a few marbles. About 8,000 years ago, flags were made out of volcanic rocks. The California State flag, a bear, was created 8,000 years ago out of volcanic rock by one of California's first human inhabitants. That was way before the Spanish stole it from the natives and planted their own stupid looking flag. When we stole California from the Mexicans, after they stole it from the Spanish, we made our flag just like the first inhabitants had intended over 8,000 years ago.

Tina, The US PAID Mexico for California.
The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, signed on February 2, 1848, marked the end of the Mexican-American War. In that treaty, the United States agreed to pay Mexico $18,250,000.
( source: History of California to 1899 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ). Yes, Mexico lost the war. But they were compensated quite a bit. if you consider that a horse cost $40.00, a pair of shoes, $2.00...the US dollar was worth a lot more.

Interesting article. I always thought it was drawn by a guy who couldn't draw a bear worth a flip. It ended up being the flag. I think it's cool if it's based on paleo-art. yes, it's CRAPPY what the 19th century caucasian's did to the Indians. However what they did to the Chinese is also crappy, and the Irish, and the Italians, and the Polish....what group didn't get slammed? Well, since tomorrow, April 27, is Confederate Memorial Day, we should have the Confederate flag on top of all the flag poles and both the Mexican and American flags hung upside down below it. That would get everyone so pissed off, they may have a brain aneurysm or stroke and forget all about this premature release of the plan for world takeover. You have already demonstrated in this post just how easy it is to manipulate sheeple's emotions and behavior. May 10 is another Confederate Memorial Day for some southern states, which provides another opportunity to hoist the Confederate flag and cause even more diversionary aberrant behavior among the sheeple.

Texas also has their own Confederate Memorial day on January 19, 2010. Rednecks need to be treated a little bit different. On January 19, the Mexican Flag should be flown on top, then the following flags all hung upside down: Texas State flag, Confederate flag, US flag, and the McDonalds flag. That is the best way to get 'em all riled up and fight'n riot'n mad. While they're preoccupied with rioting among themselves, it would easy peasy to just steal their state right from under 'em before they even know what happened.

When that was refused, he increased pressure on the Mexicans by sending troops to a disputed area between the Rio Grande and another river I can't remember the name of and then used the resultant clashes to justify a declaration of war.

After the war, as the occupying military power, the U.S. got to dictate the terms of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo and, instead of what it originally wanted, it got 55% of pre-war Mexico (excluding Texas) for about $15 million.

Here ya go: 500 years ago, the Spanish stole land from the original inhabitants, the Chumash Native American tribes, and put up their flag in what is now Los Angeles (originally El Pueblo de Nuestra Señora la Reina de los Ángeles de la Porciúncula. Ha! The Mexicans then stole the Spanish flag, and then the US stole the Mexican flag. Everybody has always been stealing something from somebody else.
This should really get your blood boiling, raise your blood pressure even higher, cause multiple psychological conditions and a whole cluster of personality disorders. Might even cause a heart attack. What is whiney gonna do 'bout that?

Aww, did your fame go away already? Don't worry I'll make a thread just for you one day lol
You know what's funny.....in the Middle East and in other parts of the world, a society will avenge a wrong done a thousand years before. Look at the Norman invasion of England. Normans were chased off like 500 years before by the Angels and the Saxons. Talk about holding a grudge!

Whatever. This is not Mexico now - it is the USA

    Or is it? .

    Press one for English.

Oh wait its not the USA it's California

Let's just make Mexico a territory or state. Like Puerto Rico. That is the only way because they are not leaving thanks to our left wing which gives them carte blanche to thwart our laws.

After all haven't they earned the right to cut into the line - it's only fair we should have 20 Mexicans for every other 1 person that needs to come here from a poor country.

We are 'OCCUPIED' against our will. That is if the 'majority' is even relevant anymore.

Ever see the stats - Mexico is not even a poor country.

I guess you didn't read Allen's rules that we don't talk about politics.

Fact of the matter is, both left and right wings have allowed this. Reagan pardoned illegals in the 80's. Neither Bush did anything to slow down illegals. Right wing/Big Business loves illegals as it has lowered the cost of wages and has practically destroyed unions.

The left wing allows illegals because they vote democratic and "humantarian" issues...

You really shouldn't point fingers at one side, as both sides are equally at fault.

THAT IS TRUE KURT - LEFT AND RIGHT WINGS ARE BOTH PART OF THE SHADOW GOVERNMENT.

THE SHADOW DOES NOT CARE LEFT OR RIGHT LEFT-WING.

I KNEW I SHOULDN'T SAY ANYTHING IN WHAT WAS ALREADY A POLITICAL THREAD BEFORE I MENTIONED THE 'LEFT'. I THOUGHT THAT WAS LESS 'POLITICAL' THAN SAYING 'LIBERAL' OR 'SOCIALIST'. SORRY...

You were supposed to be undercover for La Revolucion de Mexico to take over el mundo but you've outed yourself.

Did you put up any Confederate flags on top of the Mexican and American flags?? LOL I didn't see anything on the news about riots or ppl dropping dead from strokes so I guess not.

Val, I decided that I didn't need to waste all that manpower and money for putting up Confederate flags. Just spread around some bullshit, and people all over the world will go crazy just trying to sort out the facts. Bullshit is much cheaper than those Confederate flags, and the budget is kinda tight right now with the falling peso. Besides, the sheeple here have shown they will fight fiercely over little morsels of lies and half-truths, like dogs over raw meat; being totally unaware of what is really happening around them.

That is how to conquer the world, Madame Valerie. Keep the sheeple fighting among themselves about trifles, then steal their governments right from under them. It is working very well so far, don't you think? LOL!

Viva la revolucion! Viva la Mexico! Vive le revolution!

The majority of Americans strongly agree with you Tina, but the government isn't and hasn't done a thing about it. If we went illegal into another country, we'd be in trouble, not rewarded.

I wish they did. Look at all the anti war protests. They did nothing. The government ignored all those protests. All the petitions signed for this and that did nothing either.

-the only ppl they listen to are the big, powerful groups they are afraid to piss off.

They make promises, then few actually deliver what they promised once elected Guess that's one of the reasons most ppl hate politicians.

My brilliant idea is to put them before the firing squad if they don't do their job and listen to the ppl they represent. Then they'll actually do their job if they knew they faced the firing squad if they didn't.

I agree partly -- it's really hard to get the government to listen, and they don't want to listen, but if enough people make a loud enough noise for a long enough time, they eventually do listen, at least in part.

Our involvement in Vietnam was probably shortened by years of protests. The successes of the Civil Rights movement was the result of sustained protest.

I'd add this: anytime our leaders want to go to war with another country, make the leaders of the two countries fight it out in a duel with pistols to the death. After all, it's usually the leaders who have problems with other leaders, and they try to drag the people of both countries into it (either by force or by propaganda, depending on the form of government). Hey, it's not perfect, but it's a nice idea.

The government respondes to what is in their best interest. They pat people on the head and say 'we'll get right on it' when they dont.

Look at the 'tea parties'. Big deal..soccer moms and vietnam vets walked around in a circle with t-shirts and bumper stickers. And do you know what came of it? A lot of rich t-shirt manufacturers and bumpersticker makers.

I didn't participate in the tea parties but I know people that did.
Everyone that I spoke to confirmed that the media downplayed it to make it look like a small group while in fact it was thousands upon thousands of people at the ones my friends were at.

All of us,myself included that pay taxes are idiots.

Actually, I think we'll see the current government do something about this soon... Unfortunately, it'll probably be along the lines of granting the vast majority of illegal's citizenship.

The government doesn't respond to what people want... It spins, lies, does whatever to make its actions look like they're in the best interest of the people, but at the end of the day the governement looks out for whatever particular party is doing the governing... which shines a whole new light on my first paragraph doesn't it?

at the risk of sounding like a troublemaker...the government will only listen if they are forced to. you have to do something to get their attention and walking around in a circle for a few hours isnt it.

the original boston tea party struck a chord because money was lost, things were burned, even a couple people died. That was the level of their resolve. And if they only walked with signs, we would still be getting taxed on tea, and under british rule.

Come on - if I never believed a single so-called 'conspiracy' theory - The way we are handling the Mexican PROBLEM is the clearest evidence of a 'shadow government' if I ever saw one.

I have seen poll after poll, vote after vote something like 80% of American citizens want something done to stop and remove the illegals. Looks like the 20% rules.

    HOW CAN THIS HAPPEN?

    THE FRICKING SHADOW KNOWS.

Thank you for correcting a grammar error. Let me clarify:

      1. Many become legal. See the Reagan pardon.

      2. Their kids born in the US are legal.

      3. Many illegals are relatives of legals, who do vote, for the most part D.

The truth is, this issue is very likely the one that has the biggest gap between what the US citizens want and what the elected officials are doing. I believe the stats are over 70% of US citizens want tighter restraints on illegals.

What do you mean illegals don't vote? How may states require photo id to vote? Not all of them...

And even if they ALL did, how hard is it to fake an ID? Happens every day.
