Medicinal cannabis, a useful aid in the treatment
of cancer, AIDS, pain relief, insomnia. What is your
view - medical, not political views sought.

Let's hope those people who voted "Ban all drugs" never fall ill or have an accident!

    Unbelievable!

I never "experimented: with drugs. It was more like "full-scale research."

As a 50 year inhaler that has relied on herb to combat the vagaries of PTSD and a few physical ailments, I regard it as a virtual lifesaver. It certainly beats an endless stream psychotropic medications and rounds of steroid shots for pain and inflammation.

Yes - it can make you "stupid and lazy." NEWS FLASH. That's part of the allure, silly. It's a "recreational" drug. As far as those that have let it have a negative impact on their lives, that's not worth considering. Those people would have found something else, anything else, to use as an excuse for not reaching their full potential in life.

What bothers me is that as a totally-disabled, combat-veteran, I could be incarcerated for simple possession of a few joints. That just doesn't seem proper. Does that seem fair to you? Only in America. "Land of the free." Right!!! If you've got lots of cash for a good lawyer.

      Cheers. - Frank

P.S. I have not partaken for around six weeks. No idea, why. Wait. Sure I do. I realized that any dosh that I was blowing on weed could be better spent on launching my new project. Now - who says that pot makes you stupid???

Marijuana isn't a drug. It's a plant from mother earth.

You do understand they are just another tool used by the federal government to justify their war on drugs, right?

The only ones who don't understand are the ones who wrote that article.
Cannabis has been used as a medicinal and recreational herb for thousands of years. No deaths have every been recorded from smoking or ingesting it and some of the greatest minds in history have used it recreationally.
I'm sure you have heard of Carl Sagan. Did you know he was a cannabis smoker?
"The illegality of cannabis is outrageous, an impediment to full utilization of a drug which helps produce the serenity and insight, sensitivity and fellowship so desperately needed in this increasingly mad and dangerous world." Carl Sagan's essay on cannabis - News - Azarius

... but then maybe they have an agenda.

For example their study and 'press' being paid for by big pharma, big alcohol and big tobacco syndicates (political lobbies).

It may not be perfect but it is far less addictive and dangerous than any of the above three substances. That is I think the major point in why it should be legal too, in all fairness. I believe it should be controlled just like all of the above.

His shift, according to a person briefed on the governor's views but not authorized to speak on the record, was rooted in his belief that the program he has drawn up can help those in need, while limiting the potential for abuse. Mr. Cuomo is also up for election this year, and polls have shown overwhelming support for medical marijuana in New York

Don't get me wrong I think it's a good, cautious, start.
Personally I believe it should be legal, period.
But I know politicians really aren't in touch with what the people really want.
I first started advocating legalization 40 years ago and in that time have seen a huge shift in peoples opinions on legalization.

Pot wasn't even the target of the illegality. It was hemp.....because it competed with too many very lucrative industries. We basically allowed our gov to sell out the health of this planet so the guys at companies like DOW could get stinking rich. They just called it all a "drug". To this day, thanks to gov propaganda, there are a lot of people that still don't know that pot and hemp are totally different plants. They built a lot of gov money ....and a lot of corporate prisons on top of that law that are raking it in for the guys at the top while oppressing everyone else. And their manipulation of facts and media has led to a lot of people blindly supporting them.

Follow the money. It will make you sick to your stomach.

If we were acting like free people instead of bought, sold, and traded idiot slaves, we'd have fired every one of the yahoos that instigated that plan or continues to support it.

As far as me -- free and 21. Gonna smoke it if I damned well wanna smoke it. If someone takes me to court, I'll just instruct the lawyers to educate the jury about a little thing called "jury nullification" that would set precedence to completely knock the laws against hemp right off the damned books and into the trash where it belongs.

Ignorance isn't bliss and I don't think opinions count much when someone has not experienced it for themselves. These are always the most rabid dissenters.

They have been programmed with an (invalid) belief system but have no direct knowledge - therefore they really can't judge what they do not actually know.

With that said, and with decades of experience there is a grain of truth in all the propaganda and dogma - yet with a bigoted agenda it is barely recognizable.

Like alcohol doesn't cause late for work? "sick" days? depression? drunk driving fatalities? (*usually to innocent bystanders) -

"It's no secret that alcohol consumption can cause major health problems, including cirrhosis of the liver and injuries sustained in automobile accidents. But if you think liver disease and car crashes are the only health risks posed by drinking, think again: Researchers have linked alcohol consumption to more than 60 diseases. "

Like people don't die from cigarettes (hundreds of thousands every year) AND let me remind you how many overdose deaths from pharmaceutical (Rx) drugs?

"Cigarette smoking causes more than 440,000 deaths each year in the United States. This is about one in five deaths."

    http://www.cdc.gov/tobacco/data_stat...s_cig_smoking/

"The CDC found a fourfold increase in deaths from prescription narcotics over the past decade. Not surprisingly, it coincides with a fourfold increase in the number of prescriptions written for the powerful painkillers." http://www.foxnews.com/health/2011/1...ths-skyrocket/ oh dear faux news - who knew...
    '
    here is another one.
    http://www.latimes.com/news/science/...#axzz2pb9p0p1l

"Prescription overdoses kill more people than heroin and cocaine.
An L.A. Times review of coroners’ records finds that drugs prescribed by a
small number of doctors caused or contributed to a disproportionate number of deaths."

    http://www.kaiserhealthnews.org/Dail...al-issues.aspx

So = when you read the center for drug abuse or whatever the hell they call themselves, you don't see a fair comparison while they are hurling out their puke about the dangers of pot?

    give me a fricking break.
