I go to one of my blogs this morning and I can't get logged in. Pulled up the blog itself and I get some green monster. Looked at my server through FTP, and every domain i have has one file on there. index.php. Everything i had is gone.

SOB, don't these assholes have anything better to do?

    Damn! That sucks!

Contact your hosting company. They might have a backup.

This happened to my brother and I last summer on one of our hosting accounts. We had over 14 financial services sites, these included agent site. My brother gave out the account details to another partner who hired another web developer to work on a new site.

What happened was the partner had a Trojan/keylogger and the hacker got in that way.

Luckily I had some backups, but they were over a month old.

These posts always serve as a good reminder to back it up...

My virus has been finding a bunch of those Trojan key what ja ma call its lately so I had someone go through and clean it.

Oh well, my host is working on it, so hopefully they will fix it. Not a whole lot of value up there. I was just planning on doing something serious though. Damn the bad luck.

Usually it's offshore nerds who do this sort of a thing in lieu of a social life. It's happened to me in the past. My hackers were Russian.

    Wayback & Google Cache.

Get the copies now, or consider it all gone. Once Google tries to crawl the pages again the cache will eventually be deleted. The longer you wait, the more you'll lose.

Tim. I can sympathize - the best way to prevent hackers from destroying your sites is to primarily back everything up - then of course the next thing I would suggest is to use a website solution that everybody is NOT using. I'll leave it at that -

armysmoke's suggestion is good - your web host may have a backup for you - contact them and also make sure you change passwords to everything.

Do you have cPanel hosting, Tim? If so, I have some further suggestions for you.
