Curious George Question

Is Curious George a chimera? Seems way too smart to be 100% monkey, even smarter than most people I'd reckon. Mighty suspicious.

I always thought he was a monkey. Trying to look at it, he is apparently an APE! Monkeys tend to have tails.

Considering that apes can be relatively smart, and certainly curious, I guess it isn't that unlikely that C.G. is one. The oddest part of the stories is likely acceptance and the desire for assimilation.

People do accept him right away and that is odd. I would have thought many people would recoil in fear upon seeing a monkey. OK, ape. I tend to interchange the two as a lot of people mistakenly do. The man in the yellow hat treats him like a son...Hey wait a minute...A humanoid ape, a human who treats him like a son, Professor Wiseman...very suspicious.

Funny - I always thought he was a cartoon...

When my youngest son was 2, it was our nightly ritual to watch C.G. - me in the recliner, him on my lap and a box of Parmesan Cheezit's.

    Yep - good times.

As to the question, here's what Wikipedia says:

Many other sites I browsed both agree and disagree. So I suppose only the creators know for sure.

We read his books too. My son, 3 going on 4, also has educational Curious George workbooks. He thoroughly enjoys the books, videos, everything. Don't worry, I don't tell him my chimera theory.

Aww! Leave C.G. alone! He's an endearing little guy. As a matter of fact, the very first time my daughter ever cried over something on TV or a movie, (just like her Mom ) it was when C.G. blew away while holding a bunch of balloons.

I came around the corner after putting some laundry away, and there she was bawling her eyes out while sitting in front of the TV. I was alarmed and asked her what was the matter.

She cried, Curious George is blowing far far away with the balloons and he's never ever going to see the man in the yellow hat again!

          Haha!

    Curious George?

Sounds like the title to a 60s nudie flick.

I never imagined this thread would start going in such a direction. But I guess I should have known better with a word like "curious."
