    Bzzzt!!!

    Number 14 is wrong.

As has been pointed out countless times in the OT forum, pretty much every country in the world has #14. Just because it isn't available in the USA doesn't mean it isn't available anywhere else.

Actually most of these are either incorrect or completely subjective. It's hard to believe, though, that they don't fact check an article for Huffington Post before publishing something so obviously wrong -e.g. that only Canada has public health care.

Also, we may not have public health care in the U.S. but we do have Elk!

HuffPo tends to do it with their "lists" a lot unfortunately.

In this particular list, there's also (can't remember which # it was), the one about Canada producing "80% of the world's maple syrup". So, 20% of it must be produced in another country, or even countries.

The other one was about Canada having "3 of the world's most liveable cities".

That's true I suppose, but if you look at the link where that was derived from, you'll see that Australia has 4 cities in that list. Why is having 3 on the list deemed to be better than having 4 .

Anyway, it got a discussion started which I guess was the intention.

Huffington Post/AOL seem to get a lot of traffic with their lists. This Canadian list is hilarious. I'm pretty sure elk are common sights at some US locations, no? "Biffy" is a new word to me; I'll bet Canadian rock star Bif Naked wouldn't like that one. "Most liveable cities" is a dubious claim. Lots of countries have their own brands of chocolate, LOL. The Quebec City listing is one I can appreciate, since A. It is a beautiful city and B. There is always the looming possibility of Quebec separating.

Yeah, Biffy is weird. In Massachusetts, HOPPER can mean toilet!

Elk are only in Canada? Someone better tell the ones in the US that they are lost.

Um........later they made a disclaimer on the Elk. I hope they aren't trying to say that pic of the elk is a bison, LMAO. I know the US has buffalo, can't say 100% for sure we have bison, too - but I do believe we have some.

Sheesh, the US's border controls are a shambles. Mexicans pouring in from the south and Canadians pouring in from the north.

Really weird that there disclaimer about #8 is totally wrong.
#8 is in fact an elk. I'm also surprised they did not say something
    about the huge Canadian moose.

#3 - The US has Nestlé Crunch.

#5 - I think Gummi candy originated in Germany.

#7 - Lmao, they compared Tim Hortons biscuits to 7-11, I've never seen biscuits at 7-11. BTW, the US has Hardees biscuits. Winning.

    #10 - Is that a big deal?

I agree that here in Australia, we have more of the world's livable cities so that is eliminated form the list. I am sure many others are also untrue.

Yeah, I usually accept praise any way I can get it, eg merely for being one the people inhabiting a vast region. But, even I feel uncomfortable with praise that isn't based on, you know, true facts.
