The Dick Tracey Watch is Finally Here!

Well, Samsung makes it, but it is a seriously cool watch!

I spent half an hour fiddling around with it, and was seriously impressed, eventhough long term wearing, could be an issue, (if it takes calls as well?) with radiation.

The navigation was a little bit clunky, but from what l could find out about it, it plays music, takes pictures, takes videos, sends emails, and gives you your heart rate and number of steps.

If you can take video calls, and watch downloaded videos with this as well, then l would have a hard time keeping my money in my wallet.

Not cheap at almost $400 AU!

But this is the coolest thing l have seen since mini-b/w tv's came out in the 80's!

Dammit, I stopped wearing a watch in about 1995.

The best watches I ever had were when I was a kid. The James Bond watch I got off a friend and the alarm was the theme tune and I think went on for around a minute if I remember correctly. Brilliant.

    and this:

The pacman watch kept going wrong though and in the end the bloke in the market who I bought it off disappeared and that was the end of that. Most likely it was a knock off or something.

Yep, l had a similar watch that used black dots with circles around them for half a dozen games!

That was in high school and was a blessing to be able to play a game on it, (without the sound on) while l was in a boring class!

But l gave it to my PM teacher and he bloke it, and that was it! Grrrr!

I hope they make games for this as well!

Yep, had another play today, and it does take calls, albeit not video ones! Grrrr!

And can act as a remote control, and play any video that plays on the Galaxy.

it doesn't have any games as yet, but Samsung might fool the software into playing some.

On a sour point the battery needs to be charged daily!

I can see detective agencies buying these things up, just sit in a coffee shop and point this watch towards the target, and get an hours worth of HD video!

        Still a cool device!

For the time being, I'll pass.

For much the same reason that 3-in-stereos (turntable, cassette deck and radio in one unit for those too young to remember the 80's) were nowhere near as good as systems built from separate components. The 3-in-1's were just convenient for those who weren't that fussed about "hi-fi".

Despite the techno advances in phones with a camera in it, you still get better performance from an SLR digital camera. So, once again, these are convenient for those who don't care too much about performance and just want something that does an ok job. As for games, meh, not interested. Meh to the other features as well.

In the future, who can say. But for now, pass.

Why do garden gnomes smell so bad?
So that blind people can hate them as well.

I went to JB Hi Fi in Eastland shopping centre to see and fiddle with that one, walk straight in the door and look left of the Galaxy phone!

So most of all JB's should stock one!

There was an other one there as well, but the battery was dead, and it was more like those bracelets you see people wearing when they go to hospital, not as good!

If you click on an app, and can't figure out how to get back, just skin our finger about until you see a yellow line, then click on that.

As l said before navigation is a little clunky, but it is such a cool toy, l don't care.

PS buy the way, l was chatting to some of the sales guys there and there is a rumor, that the next version will have a video phone aspect!

      Yay!

Yep, Knox, just remember where you parked your car, last time l was there, l had a hard time finding my car again!

Almost as bad as Chadstone, (biggest shopping centre in Australia, l think) you need a map to find your car in that one!

From what l have seen the US is much worse with theme parks and such. Probably need satellite nav,?

I never have trouble parking and remembering where I left my car...because I don't drive. I catch a taxi. But thanks for the tip. It is a mammoth place. I have only been to Chadstone once and I wasn't driving then either so I was lucky. It is far too big a shopping centre for my liking. Knox City took me ages to get used to.
