Doubling Of Information Every 2 Years Has Created Problems And Opportunity

Googling how fast all known information to mankind doubles and
you'll come up mostly every 2 years.

It's an impossibility to take in this information tsunami.

Our marketing clients are getting lost as to what their next move should be.

Sure they are getting pitched this one way is the best...however they
aren't getting unbiased advice.

They do wonder about alternatives
to marketing programs they know about, including those they don't know about.

There lies the problem, it's tough getting a business owner to buy into
one advertising method you offer.

You can get around this, not offering another advertising method,
but by offering insight as to the pro's and cons of one alternative...

say...

Adwords V's Facebook

Inbound V's Outbound lead generation

Direct mail V's Adwords

Compiled lists V's buyer lists

Traffic to a optin V's traffic to a VSL.

People gravitate to insight on how to make sense of what's new.

Insight is hard to come by, because everyone is pitching their thing.

This is your opportunity to pull prospective clients to you by
giving meaning to a complicated world.

You are going to stand head and shoulders over the product and service pushers in your market
by educating first as to what the
alternatives are.

An example headline if you offer Facebook marketing as a service

That one if you are selling Adwords management.

This is a real opportunity now to attract clients in our overload
of information world.

    In my book... education is marketing and preselling / qualifying. Education is what I do day in and day out. Selling my services is simply a by product of educating.

        Car mags often will do a comparison between 2 brands
        of similar cars.

        Always very popular as it helps buyers in making a buying decision
        and so will you if you offer alternatives like the examples I gave.

        A hugely successful campaign for a investment newsletter
        offered the reader Boom Or Bust answers in a commodities market
        with the Chinese buying so much of the resource.

        It's inderect selling by showing the author as knowelgable, useful
        and timely.

        The timing for doing this is so right because of the deluge of information
        our buyers are under, that having what appears as unbiased comparisons
        to what they are likely to buy, draws so many more to you than if you
        were just pitching your thing.

    Not only does this strategy feed off of our innate curiosity, as humans. But it also hits anyone who sees themselves as being on the cutting edge - right on the smacker! i.e. If I don't want to be left behind, I better check this out...

        I was on a Google Hangout yesterday and a message came in
        wanting to know what was the best choice in marketing funnel models...

        start with low prices and keep raising through product offerings

        or

        start high then offer lower price options.

        See, that's an example of person stuck between 2 alternatives
        and wanting this resolved.

        There's 2 camps the promoters fall in.

        Not one is saying to the market..."here's the 2 business models around product and pricing,
        here's a guide on how to choose the one right for you".

        That's an example on how you can step into any crowded market and
        be the most helpful, therefore grab clients.

          Myself I don't even get into pricing until I've had a 1/2 hour consult with the perspective client.

          I've got a list of 19 questions, and from that I have a good idea of what holes they have in their marketing funnel and then offer a price for patching those holes.

          Some clients only receive one service or two and get the lowest rate. Some get the whole enchilada. Others fall in between.

          I don't want to even talk about pricing until I find out what the clients needs are. It saves me quoting them a price for a service they aren't interested in.

            Here's example on putting out a little guide
            based on an email I received from Backlinko.

            Here's a quote...

            "Let's see what happened:

            My tweet generated 45 clicks.

            The email that I sent to the Backlinko community generated 2,900 clicks.

            Now my email list is about 3x bigger than my Twitter following.
            But we're talking 65x more click."

            Your title can be...

    You see the concept of "curated" content spreading more to help people handle the information explosion. People don't have time to evaluate all the opportunities and choices available to them.

    Applying this thinking to IM product or services creation really expands the possibilities. Thanks!

    Sometimes it does feel like an overload doesn't it?

    One thing that kind of "freaks" me out are the "ghosts" on the internet...abandoned sites that maybe paid for a couple years hosting or whatever....not updated.....businesses that close but don't take down their websites....listings of closed businesses on the myriad of directories out there..abandoned facebook pages or pages of people who have died and no one has gotten facebook to turn them into a memorial, old "myspace" pages floating around and so forth

    • I heard the term, "Internet Liter", and that was over 10 years ago!!!

      I sell off of this situation - Information Overload.

      Years ago(the 1980's), on the phone we would start the call with,

      "we spoke awhile ago..", and they went with it because

      offline business have so much on their plate and their standard rebuttal is to say

      "call me back".

      The Opportunity is with information overload, moving at Internet speeds, they need help


      Heard the new theory of aging? when we get old we don't forget becuase were "senile".
      we forget because we have so much information in our heads.

      Ewen's advice - You can get around this, not offering another advertising method,

          I seen this quote loads of times and whilst Im in no way detracting to you Ewen, I don't agree with it, what they fail to realise with this quote is that there has been tonnes of information created since the dawn of civilization, its just that the majority of it has disappeared into meaningless oblivion in the following ,000 years much like most of the information 'created' online nowadays will be nowhere to be seen in a few years and also out of date within less time, unless it reappears on some laggards timeline
