Showing off competitor's website (plus whole plan) while selling web marketing plans?

Hello Warriors,
Tomorrow I have an appointment with a potential customer which is a turk restaurant of my city.
I already had similar experience with this kind of client because I already have made a web marketing project for a near competitor (another turk restaurant).
What I am offering is Web design+SEO+advertising campaign management+social media management and various other things that will help him grow up his customer's base.

Is it a good idea to show off the other website/marketing plan that I have developed for the other restaurant?
I see a pro and con here :

Pro : He could recognize that I already have experience in this kind of activity and he could agree on buying what I offer.

Con : If the guy who I did the job for is a competitor or anyone who he hates/ has anger against, he could refuse my product. He could also think that he will have to compete against him maybe, even if I can explain that the amount of users and traffic volume around(talking about seo) is large enough to have new customers for both.

Did this ever happen to you? What have you done?

Thank you all for the answers.
Kind Regards
Andrea Rillo

    Hi Andrea,

Maybe you can just say that you did a site like the one they want
but for confidentiality reasons you are not able to show the exact
site, but find one similar and say "this is what your site could look like

    Hope this helps

If the client you are going to present to is Turk.. I would say do not show the competition... UNLESS you determine they are related in some way, and there is no bad blood between them.

If you have another example that is any other restaurant I would say use that instead. In the realm of online a restaurant is a restaurant. It can be BBQ or Chinese it really does not matter.

Ok I just found out that one is turkish and the other one is palestinian.

Do the things remain the same? Do not show the competitor's website?
      Thank you Savidge.

I think show him, because if he hates the other guy then I am sure he will want one even better!

As much as possible you really do not want to show the other site, unless you think you absolutely have to.

You have to remember that when you take on a client with the intentions of long term contracting (in your case SEO ) you want the sites success to be valued on that site specifically. The moment you introduce a second website into the equation that becomes a factor as well. The question "Why is their site ranking better than mine?" will come at you so fast it will make your head spin... and then the question is "Now What?"

Basically you are setting yourself up to have 1 client in the end, and not potentially 2 long term clients.

Me personally... I would show any site BUT the other Turk restaurant site.

Don't show. For the reasons Savidge listed.

Plus, you're offering SEO/marketing. The turk might think you won't be able to do a good job for him because your alliance is with the other guy.

At best, you're going to have to give a lengthy explanation of how you can get HIM and the other guy traffic. At worst, he won't buy from you because you're not honest.
