Need help for a Cyber Security Threat to a small business

A friend of mine with a small traditional business just got hacked and asked me over to help him. I was able to fix the problem and then was a bit stumped in what to offer him as a way to protect him in the future.

His business has 5 employees, he had free antivirus but we think a staff member turned it off, his backup was to a single drive.

I have some ideas what I would like to do but thought I would like your ideas as well.

    Acronis... no matter what you do, you can't 100% protect anybody. So the most you can do is prepare for when something does go wrong.

    Acronis is an awesome piece of software...taking image backups. That's what I'd suggest.
