Does anyone give small gifts to clients or prospects for Christmas or New Years?

I am limited to spend $10 a year on clients in my insurance business so I give out a handwritten card and a gift card.

I have never given out gifts to prospects other than buying lunch.

What do you give to clients and prospects? Do you find a particular gift to be a good ice breaker?

We just send cards during this time. One of the best things we've ever done was send gift baskets randomly throughout the year though. They cost about $75 a piece but work incredibly well if the client isn't expecting them - no need for an occasion, just show your appreciation.

If you're limited in funds you can send anything, it really doesn't matter but the more personal the better.

If it's gonna be a $10 gift, send it for New Year's. Because at Christmas, customers will get stuff from everyone else and your $10 thing will be lost in the multitude. Stand out by giving it in January. Maybe a Starbucks gift card?

Take your total amount available you have for gifts
and give all to the top 5% of clients who spend
      the most money with you..

They are worth showing appreciation much more than the masses.

I had a vender this year send a $500 gift card to take the crew out for lunch. As soon as that crossed my desk I was on the phone. If they can afford to give me $500, I am paying them to much. LOL In the end I negotiated a better deal.

Every other year they have always given us a mixture of things from clothing items to fruit baskets etc. To be honest I never thought much about it.. Oh look cool free stuff. But the moment that Gift Certificate was in front of me... it was cash I paid them, and it struck a cord.

I personally did something a bit different this year. The gift each of my clients got was the gift of giving. As clients work with me they understand I donate time and funds to many local organizations. Each of my clients got a card this year with a personalized note about the donations that were made to support Toys For Tots and many family oriented organizations. Through their support through out the year made our efforts possible. yada yada yada.

I also do a lot of events at the office. During the summer my local clients know that Fridays is like a open house and there is food and beverages and it is a bit of a happy hour hang-out kind of vibe.

My not so local clients, if I get a good lead on a favorite team or something of that nature I might find a autographed Jersey or the like.

I believe the more personal, the better. and at the very least a hand written note goes a long way.

This is hilarious. They'll probably send you a fruitcake or bag of oranges next year, lol.

I send good gifts to the ones that are worth it. The others get cookies or something of the like.

One year I sent out these android based multimedia streaming boxes that I got off of aliexpress. Those went over surprisingly well... buy my clients are all in the IT space.
