Non-bulk Email Delivery Problems from my Business Domain

I am having non-bulk email delivery problems from my business domain. What I mean by that, is that I'm just sending regular emails to my clients or responding to their emails and having deliver issues to Yahoo, AOL, Comcast, Bellsouth, etc. email addresses.

The problem is that I have a reseller account with Hostgator & the IP that I'm on has spamming problems it seems (I don't do email marketing, but it seems like someone on this IP address is). So periodically, it get's blocked by one of the above. Or, I go into people's spam folder automatically.

Of course, I have clients that I host & I have not asked if any of them experience this problem, but I've got to get all of our email off of Hostgator's IP address it seems.

I'm thinking of switching over the email to a different provider. Then again, if I purchase an IP from HG will that solve the problem? Looking for help with this from anyone who has had experience with this.

what about just using gmail with your custom domain email as an alias? that's what I do. I send all regular emails through gmail using many different domain email names.

Great suggestion Bob. I have 3 questions.

      • Do you ever have delivery problems using this method?
      • Do you use just a regular gmail or do you sign up for like a Gmail+ (or something like that)?
      • I have multiple clients, so would you set up something like myclients@gmail.com & then put all the clients within that or would you do something like client1@gmail.com, client2@gmail.com, etc.

      Thanks

I never have problems, ever with it. I also use streak (chrome extension) so I can see when people read the emails. I used to have a google apps subscription but I never could figure out how to use it and never found a need to. I simply have my domain emails forward to my gmails and then have them setup in there as aliases (or not as aliases, I can't rmeember, but they're in the settings to setup).

I use three different gmails and each one has another alias setup to use.

I have a couple accounts with hostgator... They ALL have this problem right now and they refuse to do a damn thing about it. Fortunately, after 4 hours they will use a different server and emails go through. Still a pain to deal with.

I'm going to be moving away from HG soon for the sites that are still on it. I would recommend the same. Takes about 48 hours to get a response from their ticket system. Takes 40 minutes to wait for someone on the chat. Awful.
