Appointment Tomorrow Please Help

I have an appointment with a local veterinarian tomorrow and I need help.

The businesses in the 7 box either don't have a website, or have a poor website. The listings are also not optimized. My potential client has a listing on page 4 which is better optimized than those in the 7 box, although his website is poorly optimized. How can I explain to him why his listing is not in the 7 box when it is more optimized than those that are?

Here is the search: veterinarian spartanburg sc
Here is his listing on page 4 Creature Comforts Veterinary Resort and Suites, Inc.

My only guess is that his listing is getting a negative affect from his poor optimized site.

I really need this, so all your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

My first instinct is to tell you not to explain why it is where it is. The great thing is...his listing isn't where it needs to be...thats all he needs to see..no explanations are necessary.

You focus on the part about you doing the work to get it on page one.

..Now others might disagree with me on this next point but...I'd gaurd against revealing too much about specifically what your going to do. (They could easily do this themselves if they took the initiative...don't give them reason to start down that road)

To coin a term from Tim Castleman....just be the magic.

Can't give you any technical help whatsoever but if you are saying his site is poorly optimised then why don't you just say that to him then?

It probably wont mean anything to him. It doesn't mean anything to me.

I presume that you are going to tell him that you can get it onto the first page of google and what that potentially will mean to him.

He doesn't need to know much more does he?

I don't require a vet tell me what they are going to do. I couldn't care less. I just want to know dog sick. Now dog better.

      Does that help?

No that doesn't help actually. My main concern I was asking for help with, is why his listing if better optimized than those in the 7 box is on page 4? Is it do mainly to poor onsite SEO? That is my main question. Thanks for any help.

And we are telling you that it's irrelevant for your meeting

    As in....don't bring it up

The answer is no one knows the exact reason except google. However, you maintain the upper hand as long as he presumes you know why, and know how to fix it.

Otherwise he'll think he's paying you to do a bunch of stuff you hope will work.

Just go in with your list of open ended questions and you'll be fine. Sometimes if you get to technical people will become confused and not make a decision because you're speaking a foreign language to them.

Keep it simple and talk about the benefits of being in front of their targeted audience, average sales, what have they tried to get more customers, if it worked and if it didn't work ask them why they think it wasn't successful?

The key is to let them tell you. Listen and take notes and don't cut them off when they're saying why their current marketing or advertising is not working.

Why would you want to explain that? It doesn't need explaining, imo. I think you're assuming he even cares WHY. He doesn't. He only wants improvement. Plus, often getting in or out of the 7 box is not explainable, period. I hear a different explanation every week for what G wants to see to rise in the Places box.

If that does hit the nail on the head.

Well, I just checked out the site and I can tell you that it`s not optimized for veterinarian spartanburg sc at all! It`s not in the title, no H1 tags and not in any text on the site.

If I were you, I`d offer him on page optimization and also off page to get him on the first page. The competition is almost non-existant so you can get his site to first page with some basic SEO.

In terms of Google Placements, it may help if you sign him for the actual business listings as from what I can tell from searching the placement is that the vet hasn`t done so and this is why it probably isn`t showing.

    Hope this helps

  • I would suggest giving the site a full review of its code, make sure the code is valid HTML/CSS and its all clean and SEO friendly. I would suggest maybe editing a bit of the content to make it more keyword rich and just make sure all the meta data is correct, I would suggest maybe getting the business on Twitter and having a custom twitter feed, this way the site will be updating every time they make a tweet, I would suggest also you create a blog, just a simple wordpress blog and get unique content pumped in there daily linking back to the home page with keywords, this will help a lot!

    Good luck!

Appointment went very well. In the end the client was made that he has been wasting lots of money for nothing. He is going to pay me 500 to seo his current Wordpress site, and 150 a month for my monthly plan.
