Yes it is possible. QR codes can contain a SMS message.

That is true, but it does not send the text message automatically, it just lines everything up (phone number and keyword) in your phone but the user still has to "send" the text. But its convenient to have the QR code do the "heavy" lifting. Then again, it probably takes less time to just type the word out and send to the number. I like the video landing page idea, that would get good mileage.

Yes, just find a QR code generator that has an SMS option. Then input the number and the keyword and it fills it in for the person scanning. They still have to "send" the text, but the QR code does the "heavy lifting", so to speak.

I asked this same question about a week ago, and I decided to have the QR code on my business cards go to a special page on my mobile site (bizcard.html), not my desktop site. That way, I never have to change the QR code, but I can change the landing page it points to at any time. The best suggestion I heard when I asked about a week ago was to put an introductory "Nice to meet you" video on the landing page (great suggestion Adam!)

This method also gives you the benefit of putting Google Analytics on the landing page for tracking purposes.

As already mentioned, you can have it send an SMS to a short code.

You can encode it with contact information, like a vcard, that will allow the person who scanned the code to add your information directly into their contacts.

Also, make sure you have instructions with the code so we can start educating people on what to do with them. I have the following next to the code on the back of my card:

    1. Download a QR Scanner App.
    2. Scan the code.
    3. Discover cool stuff.

I think Lime Cellular is the best white label SMS marketing platform.

There's so many things you can do with them. Great for printing on promotional items to give away to your customers or at trade shows or seminars.

    Print them on
    promotional items/giveaways
    stress balls
    coasters
    calendars
    refrigerator magnets
    mouse pads
    key chains
    letterhead/business cards
    brochures
    ads

      Hiya
I'm new to Warrior and really interested in this topic. I've seen a lot of QR code talk in the marketing blogosphere but not heard much about them from average people outside of the industry. Are you guys finding consumers know what these are and are using them? I am thinking about doing them for my biz but not sure it is worth bothering yet if most consumers aren't looking for them yet.

IHOP has a good example of QR codes and text messaging in action. Think I will eat breakfast there soon and take a picture for marketing purposes. Can't seem to find a good one online.

QR codes can be cool if you leave nothing but the code and something interesting to spark some curiosity. People will try it because they simply want to know.

I wanted to throw out a big thanks to Mary....I have downloaded her blueprint and am impressed. Seems to me at least that she really knows her stuff.

I have a 2 Offline CPA Project's working that include a different spin on things. I am utilizing mobile and Q/R codes with both. If they are successful I will be turning them both into WSO's.

    How about this one...

You set up the QR code to "like" your client's Facebook Fanpage. Then they get a coupon on their screen immediately following... like say a Deli.

"Like" us on Facebook now and get a free drink today!"

Customer scans the QR code, which like's your client's page

And the customer gets a coupon on their phone to show the cashier to get their free drink.

This allows your client to message them through Facebook later - "Check out our Friday Special - Clam Chowder for $2 Bucks" or whatever...
