Im no expert in this but I love to use snagit to do any and all mockups. It is super fast and easy to use.

Plus they have a 30 day free trial. Made by the same guys who make camtasia.

I use snagit daily for many things and love it!

      Thanks Dan I have Snagit.

Can you tell me a little more how you are using it? Just grabbing a few screen shots from their website and putting them together?

      Ron

If you use Quentin's mobile script you can do a fully operating site in maybe 15 minutes. Once I got a format down it goes really fast. So you don't even have to do a mock-up, you do a fully operating site in barely a few more minutes than a mock up. Check out his WSO, it's well priced and even if your HTML skills are very basic you'll still have it done in no time.

    Yes.

You can just create a blank page on snagit

then copy sections of the screenshots you got from their site

then paste them on the blank canvas

as long as you save as a snagit file and not jpg etc, then you can move thing around the page still.

I create mockups in minutes using it.

    Simple.

Use an iphone emulator such as the one over at iBBDemo2 - Cross Platform iPad and iPhone Simulator
This is the best one I have found so far.

Load up their current site in the emulator and take a screenshot of the phone using snagit. Create a simple mockup template of what their mobile website could look like, once again load that into the emulator and take a screen shot of that.

You now have two different images to show them... a before and after.

In terms of creating those mockup sites quickly and easily I just use templates... makes things much faster. Another idea is to just create ONE mockup site per industry. So create one demo mobile site for restaurants. That way you don't need to create a new site for each and every restaurant you visit.

      Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

      FYI

I tried installing the iphone emulator below but it doesn't want to install. I keep getting a error something like "the installer is damaged. Try getting a new one. "

I tried downloading it it several times. Maybe it doesn't work anymore.

This one seems to be pretty close to what I see on my iphone.

No sure what is going on there. You can also just use a website like http://iphonetester.com if you like. I prefer to use some type of emulator/software program if I can.

Here is another one you might want to try. It is also free: Mobilizer

The great thing about that emulator is you can view the site on multiple devices and also save png screenshots right from the software.

A great little piece of kit.

I would just buy a couple mobile wordpress themes and just change the header and logo every time I need to show a mock up to a business owner.

I also use Quentin's script for the mock-ups.My best investment so far

Usually i take little time to make an custom page for them cause first impression really counts.
Business owners LOVE my designs, layouts, Tap to Call buttons and everything , at least that what my partners are saying

You might also try just using a pencil or crayolas.

I am thinking of having my 2 year old Bodhi draw up a few sites to really stand out!

    What do you think?

There are some good providers out there that will do mock ups very cheaply - leaves you time to continue growing your business.

      Hi Bill,

Paying someone to create a mockup site is a bad choice as it's just going to cut into your profits and leave less in your pocket. What if the client hates the mockup version or isn't interested at all in a mobile site? Then you've wasted your money on something that is useless to you. A mockup site only needs to be one page, why would you want to create more upfront expenses not knowing if you'll even get the business to bite? For example, you pay for 10 mockup sites, only 3 businesses are interested....you've wasted your money on 7 mockup sites that are worthless to you. If you create a quick mockup site yourself at least the only thing you're investing is a few minutes of your time if the business isn't interested.

OLD thread *edit* not old haha... just a long time member 2007 *edit* - but i would suggest trying our mobile site builder platform. You can build mobile sites, view them in our emulator instantly and load them up on your device to preview them free for 4 days.

Access to the platform is free, so you can build as many mobile sites using the builder tools as you'd like. You'll just have to pay to keep pages active after the 4th day. Just enough time to show off what you built to your customer.

Oh by the way - snag it was a great tool until windows 7 came out with their native snip tool... I cant tell you how much i use that damn thing hahah! ALOT!

im always snipping stuff out of PDFs and stills from videos etc. And then throwing them up on the mobile sites.

Anyway -- check us out -- link to our tool is in my signature below CHEERRZ
