How can I make for $$ with promo videos

I have been creating promotional videos for local companies, editing them and delivering the final product via DVD and usb.

My client also uploaded the promo video to their youtube page and imbedded the video into their website and facebook page.

On one occasion I uploaded the video to my youtube page, optimized the video for a few keywords and the youtube video has ranked well.

Here is where my questions are now. How far can I take this for clients and make the most reoccurring monthly income. I know I can upload videos to youtube, optimize it for local keywords.

Where else can I go to distribute these videos?

I read a thread on how someones friend makes $189/m by creating a short video and ranking it on google.

I have a fee that I charge to create and edit promo videos (varies depending on length of labour) but I was thinking on a monthly fee to distribute & and rank videos on the search engines or if the video hits page 1 of search engines I receive $499 or a specific cost?

Say I video tape 4 hours worth of footage, I can create 10 shorter, 2 minute promo videos for the company. With these 10 short promo videos, I can do 1 keyword for each video and try to rank 10 different videos for 10 different keywords. This would mean if each video were to hit page 1, I could make alot of $$ or even charge a monthly fee per video.

Just looking for some direction or ideas on how I make this a more solid plan.

Thanks

Charge what the market will bear in your area.
I charge $49/month per video. This is month to month.
I create niche specific - generic videos with a trackable phone number.
By this I mean I will create a video about plumbing using stock plumbing photos.
Then, if they stop paying me, I still own the video and the ranking and can just forward the number to another plumber.

So, adjust your fee to whatever your market will bear. Then, charge a recurring monthly fee to keep it ranked. You would have charged $499 one time, whereas I charge $49 per month which equates to an additional $98 per year for the same video.

    Hope this helps.

I like your concept! I created a similar video concept a couple of years ago that had a $249.00 recurring rev stream and did quite well.

I would charge a production/setup fee of $997 for 3 promo videos which includes shooting, editing and the first month's optimization/syndication on Google for first page rankings.

Then charge a monthly of $249.00 to continue syndication/optimization and maintain their first page presence for a variety of keyword terms.

This is a great strategy for new clients and establishing trust. The next step is to offer your other offline marketing services.

A few video services that help syndicate your videos are heyspread , tube mogul and traffic geyser.

For $997 how many hours would you shoot video for? Also, how long were the promo videos usually?

Every client and video situation is different. Some clients are well spoken, polished and confident while offers are just the opposite. Therefore, setting a specific shooting time - say 4 hours - is not necessary most of the time.

I would have the client block out 2 hours out of their schedule and depending on whether they were coming to my studio or I was shooting at their location, I would send them scripting ideas and help them with the preparation before the the actual shoot.

Promo video length on average would be 60-90 secs, but depending on what the video was going to be used for; tv, website, etc we would edit accordingly.

I have had shoots take 8 hours plus though and are a pain in the you know what. Choose your clients wisely
