Having a slow week? Keep Pushing....(a heart warming tale)
I'm just going over my sales figures and stuff from last year while doing taxes and it's brining back some memories.
Back at the end of August of last year I had a very slow week. After making calls from Monday all the way to Thursday I had nothing booked in by the time I got to Thursday lunchtime.
I'm sure you've been there before, it's a horrible feeling.
Admittedly I probably slacked off quite a bit that week which was why I ended up in the predicament of having nothing booked in but nevertheless, that was the situation...
So, I got MAD!
I came back from lunch and loaded up a new spreadsheet, with photographers, and ploughed in. By the time I got to 4pm I had 1 very promising meeting booked in for the following day (Friday) and another warm lead to call back next week!
Phew, things were starting to look brighter!
I kept going...
I then found another hot lead who I was to call back next week, I started to feel like I couldn't put a foot wrong...
Then, I got a call from a random number on my mobile. It was the first warm lead from earlier, they wanted to book a meeting for the following day.
Pencilled it in.
The next day came, I drove 40 minutes to the first meeting, closed it: £500 + hosting
Second appointment 1 hour later, closed it again: £500 + hosting
So From less than 1 days work I had £1000 in my bank account. Literally a few hours calling doing introductions and then a few hours closing and collecting the cash.
That's why I think offline is fun.
The moral of this story? Keep pushing and don't stop because when you stop, you'll miss out on those opportunities that were just around the corner.
The other moral of the story is, get people to make calls for you so you don't have to worry about dry spells... ;-)
PS These two sales were the start of a crazy success streak where I ended up closing around 15 meetings in a row, mostly in the month of September. You can read about that:
