Is it possible to get a video ranked for a local keyword?

Yeah its possible, I have done this for many local keywords, videos are far easier to rank than websites and if a video gets canned it is easier to upload another and then just blast its way to the top again.

Guys you do not need a WSO for stuff like this. Its easy. Follow this model.
First optimize title, description and tags. TRY to put keyword in the title twice written in 2 different ways.

Put same keyword as first word/phrase in description. Then use this site to find more associated keywords:

Keyword suggestion tool — Google suggest scraper — Übersuggest


Keyword stuff the video. You can also use googles keyword tool to find more related words.
Get all your main keywords in the tags.
There are additional ways to get keywords in it like annotations and comments. But I don't do that unless I really need to.

For keywords that are more competitive (over 3-5,000 local searches) you will want to pick up scrapebox which is what I use:

ScrapeBox – Harvest, Check, Ping, Post

ORRR You can get backlinks on fiver. For youtube it doesn't matter. You probably don't even need scrapebox or fiver for backlinks. But I use scrapebox and it definitely helps for more competitive keywords. If you have your own backlinking technique, try it out. I still use fiver however for the social love factor.

This is actually the first video that I haven't hit position 1 with on youtube. I noticed my competitor was using a location cloud, so stole his cloud and added it to my video, ALONG with my list of keywords. In another couple days that video will hit position 1 on youtube.

Here are some things to keep in mind now.

You can NOT rank every video on page 1 of google. This is common sense. That video I linked above, can NOT be ranked on page 1 of google. At the most it can ranked on page 3. If you are targeting a keyword with the state in it, you will almost NEVER rank on page 1.

Like "carpet cleaning nj". See any videos on page 1 for that keyword? No! This is because of googles dual algorithm.

On the other hand, ranking a video like that number 1 on youtube, can get you calls right off youtube. Always be sure to link your site under the phone number.

NOW. Videos that CAN be ranked on page 1 of google would be like "carpet cleaning middletown nj". All I did was add a town to my keyword. HOWEVER, even a keyword like that, you won't hit position 1 with. But trust me, you will still get calls if you set a good thumbnail and have a professional video.

By "professional" I don't mean fancy either. Look at my video, its not fancy at all. Its just personal, informative, and gets the job done. You're not trying to sell people, you're just trying to get them to raise their hand.

Back to local videos, I don't think it have any huge impact posting it to YT...if you look it some get max 1000 views...
Make a short video, posted on your site and posting to YT to get your website up in top place on google. Beside that check YT videos for 'your_kw+largest cities'...check the views.

I just did a video for a client for and beat out their yellow page video which has been online for over a year in the youtube search. It literally only two a few days to beat them out. Of course the fact that it was stuffed with keywords and shared by everyone in the company over the course of a week helped.

Now as far as a google goes, it's a high competition local key word. Health Food "my town". Their yellow page video is on page 10. Mine isn't even showing up yet.

Heck yes I used to do it for my construction business all the time on my blogs as well and it works very well. Google loves content that is local.

Especially if it's a good video (i.e., one people actually want to watch), you should be able to rank with it!
