Hey warrior forum peoples,

I was wondering about your story starting with paid traffic. I remember staring using Bing, and Facebook losing lots of money.

What kept you going? What did you do to end of having your first successful campaign?

Been there years ago and I know what it is to wander at the beginning with the whole lots of information that there is, wondering where to start. I was lucky to find great people to work with along the way and a really good niche market, so If you need help on where to start, I could offer you some really good converting products. Drop me a quick pm if you're interested.

    Cheers

I need help please! I have been looking into affiliate marketing for about 10 years now. I have read and read and done and read and done some more! I made $10.73 once. But then I messed up my blog and haven't been able to duplicate it.

      Where I am at now...
I have affiliate links, but don't know what to do with them. I have a main company name for online marketing, but that is not what I want to worry about now. I just want to make money doing affiliate marketing.

      Can you help?

I guess this is not the right thread to seek help for your online biz.
Anyways, I'll suggest you start afresh - remove the clutters from your mind, find a mentor and follow him without looking into other IM avenues. This is a great Success Path which very few follow.
Additionally, keep adding original and relevant content to your blog and use it to build your list as well. I'll also suggest that you should be an active participant in great forums like this one. You'll keep yourself updated and may find a mentor as well.
        Hope that helps!

      Hi Aro,

When I first started, AdWords was brand new and there was no such thing as quality scores. It was easier because we had fewer competitors, and traffic was relatively cheap. Nowadays there are many competitors' and it takes a level of competency that is within the range of your competitors knowledge and experience, and a superior marketing strategy.

I recommend that you spend a good deal of time learning the basics before you start spending a lot of money. Start with a small budget with the expectation that you are just learning how to manage your campaigns and not relying on it for making an income. Once you learn how to get your campaigns to break-even you can begin to ramp up your spending.

Learn how to use analytics and experiment using scientific principles so that your investment in advertising isn't wasted while you are learning how to compete in your niche and chosen marketing channel. Each campaign has the potential to provide valuable insights if you setup your campaigns properly.

As with all marketing, everything is a test. Split test where applicable and setup serial tests where split tests are not practical. Make everything an experiment with a specific objective to gain an insight. Once you string together enough marketing insights you should be able to reach profitability if you have a decent offer.

cause i am sick of seo.

Can you imagine having your whole expenses (house mortgage, car mortgage, education and etc) paid and relied on SEO?

    That's like playing russian roulette.

I know everyone said, "SEO is free and cheap."

Come on, getting seo tools set you back a thousand buck.(1 tool is never enough)
How about spending your time backlinking?
If that's not all, can you guarantee that your ranking won't even dip 2-3 years later?

    So, I am out.

I agree. I tried SEO for a bit but find it way too time consuming and unpromising.

I set up my landing page and website and I am very confident I will make a lot of money in the niche I am in.

I first started using paid traffic from cheap sources (URL redirect network) and I ended up losing badly on the campaign. So, I'll suggest targeted traffic is the way to go. I like Solo Ads and Bing PPC.

  • dburk and I are a couple of old warhorses. I started as well when Adwords was new. That was back in April 2002. I think there was something similar before that, a CPM model I think, not PPC as we know it today. Minimum bids were five cents.

Anyway, it was to advertise my software and I knew this had to be the best way to do it. Only problem is that I did not know or was unsure exactly how it all worked. First day did not go well. Back then, you had to have a minimum CTR of 0.5% or your ads were stopped. As I recall, you had to pay $5 again to restart them. So I paid $5 to join, another $5 to restart and I may have got just one or two clicks.

Undeterred, I learned over the next few days because I knew this had to be the best way to advertise. I just needed to understand the system and how to best take advantage. I just did not quite grasp the concept of keywords, doing what I see many do even today. I think most people just don't take the time to learn thinking it's so simple. But it's not and when it doesn't produce good results, they just say it's some sort of scam.

The system has evolved and changed over those years and I kept up, not always an easy task. After a few years, especially after telling others about Adwords, I was asked to set it up and manage it for them. I realized there's a market for this service so I branched out and that's all I do now.

To be successful at PPC, as dburk said, you have to spend time and money to learn and understand all the finer details. The more you do, the better your chances. If you are not willing or able to do this, your only other option is to hire someone to do it for you or forget PPC altogether.

I started with Adwords years ago and made loads of sales and then suddenly everything changed and google became far more difficult to promote affiliate products so I moved to Facebook and Bing. Bing are far more relaxed than google but that may all change!

I started off with buying solo ads to build my list, but I quickly discovered that in order to continue using this traffic source I needed a high converting funnel.

When you have a good funnel, you can do wonders.

To be fair, I am not dissing SEO completely.

It is just that PPC is more reliable and it is always good to sprinkle some SEO dust over it to get more earning.

But relying it as the core driver of your growth will be disastrous.

I have personally seen affiliates flying jet to taking bus just because of an google update.

      Hi Solarwarrior,
How do you use SEO to leverage your PPC campaigns?
Is it meant to improve your quality score to make your campaign cost-effective or what exactly is your goal with it?
      Thanks in advance

Why are you losing your money if you are going for Pay per click. You can go for ROI called as return on investment. By using this method you can ask to return your money.
