Why do you want to learn programming ? if you want to begin with Web programming, I recommend learning HTML, Javascript and PHP . but if you want to learn desktop Programming, you can start with VB or C#

I recommend this book, it's written for someone with a little knowledge of HTML, but no knowledge of programming: Home - PHP & MySQL: Novice to Ninja, 5th Edition |

Decide first if you want desktop or web application programming. I learned HTML/CSS/PHP first and it was much easier to grasp C# and JS after that. When learning programming from scratch, you need to learn the language, as well as programming concepts, like IF statements, and FOREACH/WHILE loops. I think building web apps/pages broke up some of the heaviness of these concepts (when my brain was full), and also allow me some evidential productivity that encouraged me along. Go PHP...my advice. |

The basic of all programming languages is C. So start with C and then you can learn any language. |

For instance if you are going to work mainly with linux and hosting developing APIs or WEBSITEs or WEB APPLICATIONs, PHP or PYTHON should be 2 fair good ones to learn, both have their particularities and are great to use. If you are targeting desktop you would be looking at c#, vb.net, java or if you are planning to make cross platform applications c++. Also if you have 0 background with programming or some background, etc... There are easy to learn languages as well as hard to learn ones so it all depends on what you want to do with it and what is your currently background towards it. | |
