Wordpress Plugin - Feedback Please

Hi Guys

I have been working on an exciting new (and free) SEO plugin that has just been released into the WordPress repository.

Its name is Little Hippo and it was built to make the process of optimising a site fast and easy. Unlike Yoast and All in One SEO, it does not have hundreds of options that most people (and I may be making a generalisation here), tend to leave as default.

We have built this free plugin with an easy to navigate dashboard that will scan your site and show you the errors that you have, whether that is missing meta tags, no alt tags on your images and so on. Any issues are then organized into a list that you can change one buy one - all on one page... seriously speeding up the process.

It was built out of a need to work on a client's site that had 21,000 listings and all the meta data was duplicate. So we built this, to make the process easy, and it ended up saving us a heck of a lot of time!

What would have taken 3 months to fix manually, we were able to blast away in a week... and then we thought we should do a little more, and give it away to others who can benefit greatly from the cool features that this plugin has.

This is currently only version 1.0, with limited features, however, if there is interest and demand then we will move on to building additional features, like scanning for duplicate content, page speed tools and CDN capabilities.

We really are excited about this plugin and feel that it has the potential to rival the competition, both of which are unable to offer effective bulk meta and alt tag completion all in one place. Other cool features include the ability to make all of your outbound links no-follow at the click of a button, Google Analytics tracking and the ability to adjust your bounce rate time-out and much more..

We would be very grateful if you take a look, and either let me know if you like it or have any features you think it needs. This would make me really happy... and will give you a hug if we ever meet...

      Hi, one of the main things is that you can complete Meta titles and descriptions for hundreds of posts, pages and custom posts all from one screen.

      The plugin also scans the site for errors and presents them in a dashboard (similar to Raven Tools Dashboard) You can then click through to fix the errors direct from the dash board. Both Yoast and All-in-One have no such feature.

      You can also complete all of your image alt tags, titles and descriptions from one page.

      In addition, there is an option to tick one box and have all out-bound links changed to rel="nofollow"

      And you can set the bounce rate time out for the site.

      This is just version 1 and if there is enough interest we will be rolling out further features.

      Little Hippo can also determine if you have Yoast or All-in-One installed

      Little Hippo will show a notice at the top of the Settings pages indicating that it will be using the values from your existing SEO plug-in if you currently have one of these plug-ins installed. So you can just use it for Bulk image and meta data if you need to quickly input all of this info.

    I noticed you don't have screen shots ... here's how to do it:

    1) In your SVN directory there is (or should be) a sub-directory called "assets"
    It's the same directory where you keep your banner.
    2) In that sub-directory, put each screen shot with a file name like: screenshot-1.png, screenshot-2.png, screenshot-3.png
    3) In your readme.txt file describe each screenshot as follows:

    1. Describe Screen Shot 1
    2. Describe Screen Shot 2
    3. Describe Screen Shot 3

    Anyway, I'm going to look at it and see if it's a good fit. For our marketing site. I like what I see so far. I'll need to discuss it with my business partners.

    Hi Chrisb720,
    I see the yoast and other onpage seo plugin can NOT do is long tail keyword display
    You should add a box on the right sidebar in the admin dashboard so that the user fill in a keyword and the system shows up lists of long tail keywords.

      Affiliatez excellent suggestion. I've not seen a workable/effective implementation of that either. I'd also recommend thinking about some basic VEO optimization functionality.

      There are many future versions to come. This is just version 1.0. However, our error dashboard does not need to scan the site like Squirrly, so you can see any errors instantly when you log in.

      Squirrly is only beneficial for small sites other wise you need the premium version. Little Hippo will always be completely free!
