Anybody else having trouble upgrading Wordpress to 2.7?

I upgraded to WP 2.7 over the weekend, now everything is munged up. People can post comments, but when I try to reply it reads "Undefined". WP keeps telling me to upgrade to 2.7 when I already am, and trying to upgrade my plugins says "domain lookup failure" - although both wordpress.org and my site are online.

What the heck is going on?

What version of PHP does your server run? What version of MySQL? What theme are you using? Make sure that you are running the latest versions of PHP (5+) and MySQL (5+).

Maybe it's one of your plugin that messes things up...

Try to inactivate them to see how things go.

Was going to be my first guess, since "undefined" is a common javascript term for "you haven't put anything in this variable yet".

Yep.. so if anyone else is using the Ajax commenting plugin, it doesn't seem to work with the new version of Wordpress just yet (or maybe its redundant anyway!)

a lot of plugins will be redundant...
sometimes it takes a while for plugin authors to catch up with all the newest versions of WP.

glad you got your problem sorted out

A number of plugins don't seem to work with 2.7 yet.

I'm waiting to upgrade my client's sites until more plugins get updated. I've been running a test site with the beta (now upgraded to the 'real' 2.7) and have seen a lot of white screens.

P.S. - if you get one of those - just ftp in, go to your plugins folder, and rename plugins till you can see the site again. (That's if you re-activated all your plugins at once. One at a time is safer, so you know what's blowing things up.)

I like it - it takes a little getting used to as things have moved around, but now I find it even easier to get around the blog and find what I need quickly.

The downside is, if you use the All in One SEO plugin, for some reason it's now at the very bottom of your new post page - and if you're not careful, you could forget to use it!

Wordpress 2.7 is really slick. The best feature is that you no longer need a plugin or anything to upgrade to the next version. There is just a link to click. How simple!

The dashboard has a whole new look. You can basically drag and move things around, it's easier to navigate, I think it's faster, and they fixed some stuff that wasn't working right.

It does take a little getting used to but all in all, I think that WordPress 2.7 is fantastic. Of course, the WP dev team is already working on 2.8 but it will mostly be security upgrades from now on I would hazard to guess, which I think are important.

FYI, it is rarely a WordPress theme that will cause you grief when you upgrade. More often than not, an incompatible plugin will likely be the cause of any errors you get when upgrading. The quick fix is to deactivate all plugins, and then re-activate them one by one until you find the plugin that's bad.
