Hi,

To be fair, my site hasn't be running for too long but its getting most of its traffic via social networks rather than the search engines. I've been reviewing other products and some of them are rather big companies retweeting etc... I'm getting between 50-250 visits a day. Most of my news articles are unique, ranging from a short blog video post of 150 words, to 500+ word articles.

I have a few organic backlinks from people posting on forums about our articles.

I'm active on g+, twitter and Facebook, we have a iPhone app too and our news is current.

I just find it strange my SERP and organic traffic isn't too good. Is it something I'm missing, that you can see? any advice would be welcomed.

Backlinks from Forums does not add much value (if any) to your ranking. You need backlinks from high quality websites in your own industry. Also, are your posts/pages SEO optimized?

You don't have any powerful backlink at all.

Also Social Signal is low then your competitor. Best way is make some active and authority backlink with related topics and do more social media marketing.. Wait 15-30 day's and hope you will be in google serps

Success with social media doesn't equate to success in SEO. And, unfortunately, social signals don't influence rankings to a significant extent yet, if at all. Since your site's organic performance is dismal, you probably need powerful backlinks - and if it is anew site, you need age (something you cannot circumvent).

SEO and Social media are two different things.

They all need different approach if you want to get any success.

Work more on your backlink and most likely onpage.

I think you need to worry less about "backlinks" right now and focus more on a few other issues. First and foremost your USP ( Unique Selling Perspective ) what specifically separates you from say dronewars .net? I can SEE the answer can you?

You are keyword fighting in the wrong target area. "Drones" is NOT your target audience. terms such as "remote control drone" or "quadcopter" and all of its variations are far easier to obtain.. and more importantly within CONTEXT to your site specifically.

Learn, understand, and develop a USP that is consistent to YOUR site, and then start working within that frame work Onsite in terms of content ( which is there already ), URL's and page titles. And then take that USP outwards towards your social aspects.

THIS is where you will see gains, and THIS is where you will develop that needed back linking naturally.

Its not very often I get the opportunity to say this on WF... but your site looks better than good. your content is better than good. right now its your targeting that is off, and that is ALL that is holding you back!

      Good Job Mate!

PS. at the bottom of EACH AND EVERY post you need a block that is #1 pushing your app, and #2 pushing a e-mail list. and #3 start working on some text to create some dialog.. IE comments. #4 you need to include the options to share this content here is as well.

Hi, thanks for such a constructive post, I'm not sure on my USP completely, but I think it could be my iPhone app (I believe Im the only one in the niche offering this, and I just finished a major revamp for it yesterday, which I'll release).

I think you have hit the nail right on the head in terms of keywords - I'll try and amend my keywords for the upcoming posts, and hopefully will see some improvements

I'll also push it in the footers of the posts, as I am probably missing an opportunity here. I haven't really pushed the iPhone app but it's got a 100 or so downloads and with push notifications enabled I guess it's as good as a SMS list.

        Thanks again!

USP... basically what separates you from the other sites. I would think what separates you from dronewars .net is pretty clear. what you need to dig in and find is the sites that are targeting the same niche as yourself ( remote control drones ). This will sound a bit amusing but there is that line where a USP that is supposed to be Unique, ends up being Universal. If you go look at any local trade IE plumbers or electricians, you will see what I mean.

In regards to your iPhone app, that is not a USP, that is a product. a USP is what defines your site. kinda like "everything and more about remote control drones" something to that effect. 1 line.. that's tells a visitor what to expect from your site. THAT is a USP

I see what you're doing. You're nicking drone stories from here, there and everywhere and drone vids from youtube and trying to create a drone sale site around that. The thing is there is nothing original about your site and Google knows that. If you'd at least offer a bit more original content around the news you might get better results.

Hi, in some words this is true - I do have a video section which is just basically me finding some cool videos and writing a short post to go with it. Although, the site does have unique, exclusive content - we have been sent exclusive content from some of the big names in the industry and also products to review. I'm trying to find a balance, by keeping my readers coming back to see some of the light hearted videos on a daily basis but also providing them with unique, exclusive content. I hope thats the way to do it, as at the moment it'd be impossible for me to provide as much content as I do with exclusive content (although all the content should be unique). A lot of my competitors are doing exactly the same thing, without the exclusive content .
