Are there any SEO risks of having multiple websites?

Hi, I was planning on launching more websites with around 200 article pages each because I've noticed a bit of success with my first one in terms of getting traffic from Google.

However, I was wondering if there are any risks in terms of SEO if I open, say, another 3 or 4 websites all in different niches?

Will Google lower my rankings on my current website if I begin getting better rankings on my new website?

Thanks, all help would be greatly appreciated!

I don't think that goole will do. Because all of your websites are different niche.

I have about a dozen websites. All rank well and as far as I can tell, Google treats them all the same. There is tons of speculation and theories out there about if it's bad for SEO or not, but I personally have never experienced anything negative. I say go for it. Do keep in mind the more you create, the more you're multiplying the amount of SEO work you'll have to do. I personally would just get one second domain and squeeze all of that content into one the best that I could...But that's just me.

If it will be in different niches then I don't think there will be any risks.
Besides, if you think you will be able to handle it and optimize it well then, why not? Seems that you have a potential.

Why would there be any risk? Where do you people get
      such nonsense from?

Like, one website to a customer?

      Amazon alone owns probably 100.

Why on earth would google lower one website because you
      started another?

I'm really rolling on this one, cuz I know when I login to blogspot,
theres a button to start a "new blog."

I don't even want to know why you people think this way.

You're not even trying If you only have a single website per niche.

I wonder how many people will realize what a gem that is. Oh, they are too
busy listening to someone in a hole who talks nonsense.

Risk is not the right term for having multiple websites but its an opportunity to widen your influence to reach your targeted audience in different ways.

Is there something you left out from this question? Perhaps a questionable tactic that you're trying to use?

Because I can't follow this logic, and it seems that I'm not the only one.

If your sites are more or less legitimate and not just piles of spun spam you can proudly link them together. You know, like real companies tend to do with their web properties.

Links in signature will not help your SEO. Not on this site, and not on any other forum.
Who told me this? An ex Google web spam engineer.

    What's your excuse?

Thanks for all the input people!

I'm now really looking forward to launch a few more websites.

The reason I'm planning to do this is incase someone decided to do a lot of negative Seo on my only website to lower competition... as they say it's best to not put all the eggs in one basket.
