Hypen in domain name?

Hi Warriors,i wanted to know if there is any disadvantage of using hypen in domain ?

Like i found 3 word keyword but ist not available as domain name (in com,.net and .org extention).So now i am thinking to buy hypened keyword domain like weight-loss-now.com



So just wanted to know how google read/consider this kind of domains ?

    That was good but do you only rely on search results?

      Yes,only search engine traffic as i know hypen domains cannot be remembered easily or sometimes gets confusing.

      So do u recommend going for hypened domain if its not available as complete keyword domain?

        For organic results, it would make no difference.

        If you wanted to sell it down the road... maybe.

        IMO, the hyphens make no difference in results, it's strictly in the eye of the beholder.

  • As far as I know, the ONLY definitive answer in terms of SERPS is from a panel Matt Cutts did some months ago, part of which he posted to his blog.

    When asked whether Google penalizes hyphenated domain names, his answer was no, they do not. He went on to say he didn't think it was the best option, but implied there was no algo penalty.

    Of course when you're talking about remembering a domain name, or typing in a domain name, that's a different story, but anyone who says you shouldn't use hyphens for ranking reasons is either voicing opinion, or repeating bad information.
